We were finishing up our adventure in the downtown KC Quay area west of city market and searched up Asian food near us. Asian Cafe popped up as a short distance away and was 4.8 stars.

Parking was limited but we found the last spot on the street. The entrance to the restaurant was a little tricky to find, but we found it on the stairs and inside the large wooden doors on the south side of the building

The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is inviting. Lots of seating and great for groups.

The menu is nice but broken into categories of different Vietnamese main dish types. We asked what was popular and our waitress explained everything we had questions about.

We settled on some shrimp spring rolls, Bun Tham Cam, and Com Bo Luc Lac.

The order to plate took a while but I could see into the kitchen from where I sat and could see everything being prepared from scratch and was freshly cut vegetables and entree core ingredients. This made the wait easy as we were happy we weren’t getting something that was slapped together and prepared before hand.

Our food was wonderful, fresh and served hot. The spring rolls were awesome and stuffed with shrimp. The portions were large and could easily be shared. We needed up taking food from both entrees home.

Wait staff were attentive and friendly.

The only thing I didn’t like was the employee who was setting at one of the tables listening to videos on his phone out loud. I never can figure out why people are considerate of others and being aware that others don’t want to hear your phone conversations or videos being played out load in a restaurant or any public venue.

We will definitely be back. I’ll try the...

Just opened a couple months ago in the old Red Dragon House location in downtown Kansas City. (No relationship, but the owner, Joseph, did work for the old RDH owners as a chef long ago) Soft opening, so I expect things may change in the next few weeks or months.

l always start with Kung Bao (Kung Pao, Chicken with peanuts, etc.) at new Chinese-based restaurants and the offering here did not disappoint. Portion was good, plenty of chicken prepared well, good balance of vegetables vs meat. Gravy/sauce was basic, surprisingly not spicy at all (no peppers present) but still good, though not great. Rice was stickier than most basic offerings in a good way, and while the rice portion was smaller than most, I was offered more if desired.

There's no lunch menu yet, so be prepared for an entree price. There are some Vietnamese offerings I plan to try in the future (Pho, Bun and others).

Atmosphere is very clean and remodeled. Bathrooms on the same level and inside the restaurant itself.

So far so good, and I...

We met some new friends here for dinner. Located in Downtown Kansas City. Be prepared to hunt for street parking! We were promptly greeted upon arrival and quickly shown to our table as I did make reservations. Our server was this lovely mature Asian gentleman.

What we ordered: 1.) Veggie Spring Rolls $6.75 my friend said ingredients were fresh and tasty. 2.) Crab Rangoon $6.75 this was tasty 3.) Fried Egg Rolls $4.75 4.) Seafood Pho $15.95 Our friend said he liked seafood was fresh. 5.) Vegan Pad Thai $15.95 my friend said it had a great taste and flavor. 6.) Rare Beef Pho $14.95 the broth was very flavorful, the beef was tender and veggies were fresh. 7.) Beef Pad Thai $15.95 this had a nice sweet/sour/savory flavor. 8.) Hot Tea $3.00 they use a Thai tea base very delicious. We will definitely be back as their prices...
