We stayed in the Executive Suite for four nights in mid-July. I’ve always wanted to stay in Keystone but wasn’t sure which hotel to choose. I’d chose this one again, with a few considerations. Rooms- housekeeping is only available upon request but if you need something, the front desk is helpful. However, it’s the little things in a $250+ a night room that I missed. Like only one coffee pod for a four night stay, no extra trash bags, and one small bar of soap for an executive suite. Not a huge deal as the front desk would refill one days worth at a time, but just an extra stop. Also, the suite had a bedroom and main room, but no AC or fan in the main room so we needed to keep the bedroom door open with the AC on blast to keep our main room tolerable. Again, not a huge deal but something to note if you have folks planning to sleep on the pull out. Location- LOCATION IS A WINNER IF YOU HAVE KIDS! It’s located right next to the alpine slide and adventure park. So it’s easy to walk over whenever you want to entertain the kids. There’s a coffee/wine bar across the street and a delicious bagel shop just up a hill. Main Street Keystone is a five minute walk and it would be doable for most folks to walk and not need a car. Folks with mobility issues or bad knees will still want to drive because it’s uphill to get back. Service-there’s a continental breakfast each morning which is worth a stop to fuel up before heading out. The indoor pool and hot tub were nice and everyone who helped us was extremely nice and helpful. A few things to consider: this is a seasonal hotel in a prime location. It’s not a chain and that’s part of the charm but it’s not a Hilton or Marriott experience. It’s an Old West, rustic experience! Parking is somewhat limited. If you have a handicap parking placard you’ll want to be aware. There is an elevator:) Be nice to the staff, a little respect and courtesy...
Read moreI am giving this a 4 star but do agree that you really need to read reviews and understand differences here! So here is a detailed and very honest review: I am a bit high maintenance when it comes to my comforter in a hotel, cleanliness and updates. We were in a Family Suite, it is updated (no), clean (mostly, two vents were quite dusty) I handled one on my own and told the desk to do the one above the toilet, they did and fixed it ASAP. Bedding, the older poly printed bedspread is what you are getting unless in an Executive Suite or per other reviews maybe their King rooms... (note from past experience King Rooms may not have windows to the outside just FYI) Traveling with Kids, Teens etc, if so like us we wanted the space by this point. We were on a 8 day road trip this was hotel number 4 and needed to not be on top of one another. Thus, a 4 star in that there is SO MUCH GREAT space! Our Teen had the whole main room to himself the evenings there and we were able to heat leftovers from a nice night out for lunch the next day and sit at a large dining table. We hung out relaxing some nights. Beds: we rolled into one another so my husband and I slept in opposite beds, I still think they full size he says queen either way they felt too crowded and we did not sleep well together here. The air is only in the bedroom, not the main, thus that area gets hotter. Breakfast, odd here they are stringent with the food and odd combos, it is not a Holiday Inn Express level but was good enough for my husband and son. I however, had my coffee and GF Bread from across the road which was perfect for me. Will I stay again, maybe. I don't think they deserve some of the harsh reviews they get as overall they do a great job. However, if you are seeking updated this is not it overall but it is nice and offers room to move! I honestly felt for the $206 AAA discount we got on the room we had it was a...
Read moreMake sure you understand what you are booking when making a reservation here. We stayed with a large group, so we got to see that there is a HUGE difference between the remodeled rooms here and the ones many in our group got stuck in. The king suites have been remodeled and are very nice. The rooms with 2 queen beds are a bit cheaper, and possibly the worst accommodations I’ve ever stayed in! Our people that stayed in the king suites had a nice place to relax, nice sofa, even a fireplace, and everything was super new, nice, and clean. Back in our room, the furniture was made of wooden twigs, no place to do so much as lean your back on and not be in pain, and everything felt old and dirty. I would have gladly paid the extra $20 a night just to have a nice place to relax. Parking was insufficient, we had to cut our days short just to not be the last back at night and risk not being able to park at the hotel. There is plenty of parking across the street in the grass, but there are signs up stating: “no overnight parking”. Nobody knows why.
On the bright side and the only reasons for a second star: the staff was very friendly, breakfast was good (yes an actual breakfast, they’re done pretending like we can’t eat breakfast due to Covid thank goodness!)
Had we stayed in one of the king suites this would be a 5 star review despite the parking. Be honest on your website Rushmore Express, so that people know what they are buying; your site is so misleading to those that get stuck in the not-remodeled 2-queen rooms. Most will pay an extra $20 to stay in a nice room, but most won’t pay $120 a night to...
