It's obnoxious that all the really good stuff is now sold on eBay. I think people want to support an organization but most people are looking at donating to a thrift store as helping the people in their community who otherwise couldn't afford good clothing for their children, nice lamps in their house, dishware they're happy to eat off... In my experience, people are shopping any type of secondhand store for good deals and exciting finds. Also, since every shopper knows the source of the inventory-given free by people to the organization-selling things for prices out of the reach of the community supporters and shoppers is an insult to those supporters. It's hard to know what store is completely reputable and ethical and to keep your items away from them. Frankly, I'm most satisfied as somebody with things I need to give away when I'm able to put them someplace for community members in need to find, with no strings attached and no obligations other than being tidy and cleaning up after themselves (and possibly others who annoyingly left a mess). Also, they refused to sell me one of the outfits in the display window. The display is for the 4th of July. I would have liked to wear the outfit on the 4th of July. They will not sell it until after the 4th. Why even bother doing the display at all if you refuse to sell the items? Does that not defeat the purpose? It is just annoying.
