In order to give an apropos review I have to begin with a prelude - I take the Luxxpress shuttle to Las Vegas. It's an awesome 'Asian' owned and operated service, and the service is impeccable. I would pay more than what they charge. But I digress. So, Luxxpress has 3 pick up locations: Diamond Bar, Golden Grove, and K-Town. Recently the k-town pick up changed from the Korean Galleria to the Western Inn (enter the problem). So I make my way to the western inn because k-town is closest to my starting point, USC. I get there and walk in and ask the front desk clerk where the pickup is for the Las Vegas shuttle. She says "it already left." Strike 1: that was not my question. I responded by telling her I was early for the next shuttle and to please tell me where to pick it up. She said outside at the corner. I looked outside and saw no corner. Clearly she was giving me the brush off, strike 2. So I proceeded to walk toward the waiting area to 'take a load of my feet' because I walked from the Metro Redline and needed to sit because I was a little fatigued, and wanted to call Luxxpress and ask them precisely where I was to meet the shuttle. And before I could even take half a step toward the seats the clerk shakes her finger at me and says "you can't wait here." STRIKE FRIGGIN' 3! Now this is an important piece of info, as a human rights advocate law student at USC, and as argumentative as I am...I said nothing. She didn't deserve a response from me because if there's one thing I've learned about fighting for human decency, and fair and adequate treatment, the best way to win - in this case - is to hurt them where it counts...in the purse. So, as many BAD reviews that I can get out into the media, the better! Yelp, Facebook, Craigslist, Luxxpress, Twitter, Priceline, Orbitz, and any other place where western inn advertises, I will be there with this same review. This place has incredibly horrific customer service, and from reading previous reviews, I am not alone in my observation. Had I received a mere .00001% respect compared to her rudeness, I would have considered staying there the night before my next trip to Las Vegas. I could wake up, have breakfast, grab my bags, and bam! roll right into the shuttle. But NO! That will NEVER happen. And I happen to be the type who will pay extra for convenience, and even more for exemplary service. Now I'm not saying I'm a big shot or anything like that, but I have been know to stir up some 'ish'. Just saying. I will post a follow up review after I return to the western inn to get...
Read moreThe absolute worst "hotel/inn" experience we have ever had.
My parents and I stayed here for 4 days, so I feel we have spent enough time to provide a honest overview. Paying a little over a $100 per night, we didn't expect a luxury experience but the rooms are visibly outdated and amenities clearly old and worn (i.e. cracked sink and tile floors, discolored bathtub, and soiled ironing board). However, this wasn't the worst thing about the experience. My family did some shopping and bought over $80 in items and had it in a clear, clean plastic bag (that was wide open so contents could be seen inside) against the wall near our luggage, only to find that a couple days later, it had been removed from our room. We don't know if it was stolen or thrown away mistaken as trash but by the time we realized it was gone, we had already left the inn. We also noticed my mom's fitbit (retailing $100) was also went missing (it ran out of battery so was placed on the dresser and did not wear it for the last few days of the trip).
When my mom initially called and inquired about the missing items, she was completely shut down and told no one has seen our things, with absolutely no empathy nor apology. I then called the next day (today) and again explained that some of our items went missing and I would appreciate talking to the manager. The person on the phone said to call the next day around 10 am. Wanting to notate the conversation, I asked for his name and asked the name of the manager so I could ask for him the next day, to which he replied "I don't know the manager's name". I repeatedly ask and he replies with the same answer with no explanation. Clearly this is a lie and I ask him for his name, and he replies "why?" Each time I explain I would like to note this conversation he adamantly replies "no". I ask again, and he replies "no" and abruptly hangs up. The amenities being worn is one thing but the complete lack of customer service and blatant rudeness is another. At this point, we're disappointed not only with the lost items but with the terrible experience we had that left a sour taste to our otherwise wonderful LA trip.
As a Korean myself (and the hotel run by Koreans) I thought this would be a warm and hospitable experience but I was regrettably proven otherwise. I will advise all my friends and family to avoid this inn at all costs and spend a few extra $ to stay somewhere staff and management are held to a higher standard and want to provide good service to...
Read moreIt's a pretty clean and normal hotel. If it weren't for the incident at 4AM, I believe I would have left at least a 3-4 star review. Unfortunately, the front desk agent called the room at 4AM, asking if our tv was on. I informed her that although it was, the volume was barely on (not even double digits!!) - to the point we couldn't hear it over the heater. She said that she'd received a noise complaint from the room next to us and I informed her again that the heater was louder. She described in Korean a sound that I could only attribute to the heater (woongwoong) and asked me to lower the heater. It was on low anyways, so I left it alone. I tried to go back to sleep but I couldn't, so I went to speak with her at the front, letting her know she should probably check the rooms (we were not far from the front desk) before calling people at 4 in the morning. Long story short, she changed her story at least twice, first describing that "woongwoong" sound, then when I became upset, that she actually did check the rooms and could sort of hear a t.v. (she literally said 티비소리가 약간 들리는것 같았어요 - translation: I felt like I could hear the tv a little). She continued to make excuses (how meaningful is an apology when it's followed by a "but"?) and actually suggested we go back to sleep... with the tv off. By that point it was about 5am. Go back to sleep? I'd been up an hour and there was no going back to sleep at that point. Basically, the walls are so thin you can't turn on the heater if you're cold because someone will complain about it and they'll wake you up at an ungodly hour. On another point, the parking is dangerous here. To get into the parking garage, you have to walk into it the same way the cars get in and out - there are no elevators or stairs, nor is there a walking area to get from the garage to the lobby or anywhere in the hotel (we asked if there was anything because we didn't like the idea of possibly getting hit by a car trying to enter the garage). If there are stairs or another way in, they're not available to the guests. Sometimes there are parked cars obstructing the view to the garage right at the garage entrance so that's another safety issue. The only plus side to this place is the location. Koreatown Plaza right across the street, many restaurants in the other plaza across (Eight, BCD, Madang Gooksoo, a bakery called ManmiDang) and so much more. Just a short drive away are a lot more that Koreatown...
