Le Petit Chef â Los Angeles: Disappointing Experience
I recently visited Le Petit Chef in Los Angeles and unfortunately, the experience did not meet my expectations. While the concept sounded unique and promising, several aspects were disappointing.
First, the food quality was inconsistent. The seafood soup was frankly terrible, and the vegetarian soup I ordered was barely warm â far from what youâd expect in a fine dining setting. Among all the dishes, only the burrata, the steak, and the ice cream stood out as truly enjoyable. The chicken dish from the second or third course was particularly bad.
Second, there was an issue with seating. When making the reservation, there is a fine-print notice at the top of the page saying that due to âtechnical issues,â you might be seated with other guests. However, this information is not clearly visible, and when we arrived â hoping to celebrate our anniversary â we were placed at a shared table, which was uncomfortable and disappointing.
Additionally, the staff member who was announcing the dishes did not engage the room or get anyoneâs attention, so it was difficult to hear what she was saying â especially for those of us seated farther away. This made the immersive experience feel disorganized and unprofessional.
Regarding the projected videos on the table: the image quality varied greatly depending on your seat. On one side, the visuals were crisp and clear, but on the other, where I was seated, they were blurry and poorly aligned, which made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience.
Overall, I would rate this restaurant a 3 out of 5. If youâre considering visiting for a romantic evening or special occasion, I would not recommend it. The atmosphere is quite plain, and the setting feels more like a repurposed basement room in a hotel than a high-end restaurant. Considering the high price point, the experience did not live up to expectations.
Think twice before booking â there are definitely better options for a memorable evening in...
Read moreThe service is good and the waiters are attentive but the food leaves a lot to be desired compared to them. Also, just as a heads up they charge 20% gratuity when you reserve with them, additionally they algo charge benefit fee which is about 3 or 4% extra.
The idea and concept is very interesting but the food prepared by the projection of the little chef and the actual food are different. There are parts of the ingredients that are not even there on the actual food(e.g: the little chef grilled a carrot but there was no carrot on the actual dish or he used a broccoli but there was not a brocolli used on the actual dish) not to mention the portions are not very big.
Furthermore the steak was too salty, although the meat was cooked to a very good medium rare. The best part of the experience was not even the food, I enjoyed the drinks more.
Again it was an interesting experience but for the price($300 per person including drinks, tax, tips, and health benefit fee) It was not worth It unfortunately. It could have been so much more but I ended up being disappointed and left still...

Very disappointed with the service and food quality. For what I paid you would think the service and food would be top tier, but it wasnât.
I asked for a mocktail because I canât drink alcohol since Iâm pregnant and they gave me a drink that had alcohol in it.. obviously didnât comp me my drink. Then for one of the entrees that was soup basedâ they poured the soup and it splattered everywhere. Plate was not clean at all. Another meal I had was the wagyu steakâ asked them to make it well done because again I canât eat anything rare.. they came back and it was not well done and I saw a lot of red in the meat still.
At the end of the meal, when they returned the credit card and receipt, they gave me someone elseâs bill and their credit card..
Iâd skip this. For what you pay you can go elsewhere at a better establishment that actually cares about their food quality and...
