We love coming here before Kings games at Staples Center. There's usually other Kings fans there too (altho that's true for most eateries in the area before a game) and it's a nice start to get in to the spirit.
Service: I'd say "as expected" for a restaurant of this class. Attentive, friendly, on their toes. One of the times we came was my birthday and I got a box of truffles with a candle. Very sweet!
Food: Over several visits, we had the stake sandwich, asparagus, Fleming's tots, filet & waffles, Brussels sprouts and their bread with whipped butters. The whipped butter is so good. There's always a seasonal one and then the champagne truffle one. So so so good. YUM! Filet and waffles is a filet cut, cut in to strips and placed over a cornmeal waffle. It's good, but it needs more sauce. The drizzle over the steak is very flavorful and the horseradish sauce is a great compliment, but it needs more. If I order filet and waffles I am not worried about calories. Give me all the sauce! Brussels sprouts with bacon and the asparagus where fine, but you don't come to a steak restaurant for the vegetables. Both dishes are a bit on the greasy sides. Fleming tots. I am sorry I did not take a picture of them. They were not what I expected. It's more a croquette than a tot, in the traditional sense. They are big-ish pieces on a plate with some sauce, again, delicious sauce, but needs more! and we added on pork belly. I'd say you can skip the pork belly. It doesn't add to the dish. Since it's more a croquette you end up eating a bit of that or a bite of the pork belly, but it's not something that harmoniously combines. I would order it again tho, but try something else first. The biggest surprise was the steak sandwich. It appeared so simple, but it packed a punch. The choice of the soft brioche roll with a perfectly medium steak and again a side of horseradish sauce was super good.
Ambiance: I typically go to the El Segundo location because I live near it, and I have to say it does not have the same charm and cozy vibe as the El Segundo location. It has more the vibe of a cheaper chain restaurant that was taken over. It's fine, but compared to other locations, has less inviting qualities.
Parking: You can park at LA Live or at any of the other for-pay lots in the area. TBH I don't know if Fleming's validates for any of them. You could take the metro to Pico station and walk over. Safes the hassle of...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars, I would. My service was terrible from the start. KYLE D was the server assigned to me on 2/18/23. This was my very first time at Fleming’s. I was really excited to celebrate my Anniversary here with my Husband. We sat down at our table and was approached by Kyle stating he’d be our server for the night. What we then had to endure over the next hour and a half of our meal was borderline, reappointed service. The bread that this establishment is known for giving complementary to its guest was seemingly forgotten about on our behalf; all while, making sure that numerous tables around us received the same complementary item in a swift manner. We then had to ask for bread after not receiving it even after our appetizer arrived 20-25 minutes into our evening. Kyle then proceeded to bring me a glass a champagne that I was oddly confused about because I was drinking lemon drops and announced “it’s free.” But why? Maybe he knew he had been treating us differently than his other assigned tables, but at that point, I was scared to drink it. After our meal was completed, I asked my husband to speak with the manager because I was extremely disappointed. After my husband spoke with the manager about how he felt about the service, the manager agreed that it was inappropriate and that was not their standard protocol, and he would speak with that server all the while making our bill reflect our experience in light of hoping that we would return to dine at this establishment again. However, no less than two minutes goes by that the server in question comes and abruptly sits down at the table next to us completely embarrassing and causing a scene as to what should’ve already been a finished situation. He then starts to demand questions of me, as if I, the patron of this restaurant, was in question tonight, based upon the way that he chose to serve our table. It was completely embarrassing and out of line and borderline provoking as he began to loudly yell “did you think I was being racist” promptly alerting seemingly every table in our area to have eyes glued to us as the guests, actively trying to bully us into an argumentative encounter, after the ill treatment he displayed towards us on this evening. Nevertheless , me and my husband were just trying to celebrate our 6th marriage anniversary in what we thought was a warm, and inviting environment, which clearly was...
Read moreI recently dined at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar and unfortunately, my experience left me disappointed. Despite the high price tag of $600 for the meal, the overall quality of the food did not meet my expectations.
I decided to start with the seafood tower, which was the most expensive item on the menu at $174. However, I found it to be underwhelming and lacking in flavor. It was a letdown considering the hefty price tag associated with it.
On a positive note, the sidecars we ordered were excellent and I might consider them as my new go-to beverage. However, I was surprised to discover an additional $14 charge for an open wine that I didn't notice while dining. I couldn't understand why we were charged for outside beverages when we did not bring any.
Moving on to the main courses, the scallops were just okay. They lacked the flavor I was hoping for, and although I generally enjoy scallops, these ones didn't impress me. The double-breasted chicken was particularly disappointing. Paying $40 for a chicken dish and then having to pay an additional $15 per side made it an expensive and unsatisfying meal, totaling $70.
The mashed potatoes, priced at $15, were decent, but nothing exceptional. The macaroni and cheese were also just okay, as I have had better versions elsewhere. The chicken dish perplexed me, and I wouldn't consider ordering it again in the future. I could feed an entire family for that price with 3 whole chickens and sides. The flavor was lacking, mediocre and absolutely not worth that amount.
However, there was one standout item that someone else at the table ordered, and that was the calamari. The calamari had a burst of flavor and was the most enjoyable item of the evening, aside from the drink I ordered. If I had the chance to go back, I would likely opt for two orders of calamari, along with macaroni and cheese and a beverage, nothing else.
Overall, based on my experience, I doubt I will return to Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar ever. The combination of the high prices and underwhelming food did not justify the dining experience. I have been to other establishments where the food was both cheaper and of better quality, so I would recommend exploring other options before considering this...
