PICKUP ORDER Worst experience I've ever had. I ordered pickup and waited the 40 minutes suggested. When arriving I had to wait another 20 minutes for my popcorn shrimp rolls that turned out to be the wrong order. I was then charged for someone else's order, not once but twice. They didn’t even notice this until I had to point out they gave me a receipt to sign for 156 $ the girl took the receipt looked at it and said she’d be back. There was a group of people huddled at the front talking and even at the end I was charged 3 times. I ordered pickup because I felt unwell and you can tell no one knew what they were doing and didn’t care. I had told them to handle this and fix my food at this point my meal is cold from waiting an extra 20-25 minutes for the manager and 2 girls fix the issue. Keep in mind my order was 95, I was charged 156, not once but TWICE on my credit card. I got no receipt showing I was refunded I felt unwell and just left to deal with the next day. I did not yell I was not disrespectful I just left I was tired of the entire ordeal. Please see the attached photo showing I was charged 3 times. I would not recommend ever coming to this restaurant. I was highly dissatisfied and frustrated with the service. Please get someone people who know what they're doing in your business this is a lack of attention to detail. No one even apologized I was told "the mistaken item is a complimentary gift" no they can't accept food that was received back for to go orders. Not one person came up to me to explain anything or apologize. 0/10 my food was cold and not good once I got home and I wake up to 3 charges on my credit card.

At Katsuya LIVE, I ordered the Premium Sushi Moriawase. This is a chef’s combination of premium nigiri and rolls, at $55. I was served a nice selection of 10 pieces of nigiri and 8 pieces of toro maki. It does seem like most items on the menu are highly priced, given the location of the restaurant. However, I was satisfied with my serving of sushi. The maki rolls are mostly filler, but are also tasty. The quality of the fish in the nigiri was quite tasty, with every piece being satisfactory. The ikura salmon roe was perhaps my favorite item of the dish. I also tried out the brussel sprouts and chicken karage. The chicken was nothing to write home about, but the brussel sprouts were perhaps the best brussel sprouts I have ever had. And I am not that big a fan of brussel sprouts, but the way they were baked and salted gave them a crispy almost chip like texture, which was very unique and delicious. The restaurant also has a unique choice of decoration. There are various robots painted gold used as decoration around the restaurant, including robot dinosaurs and various gundam figures.

Judging on food taste and whether or not if there is a positive quality to price ratio this location, and every Katsuya I have been to, is worth it. They have a lot of options and are priced the same as many other sushi restaurants aside from the obvious excepted markup due to the location. With that being said because it’s attached to LA Live and next to the Convention Arena and Crypto the crowd dining around you is determined by what’s going on that night. If there’s a concert there will be more formally dressed diners as well as more adults. Tonight because of the NFL experience there were a lot of families. I started off the meal with the Yellowtail Jalapeño and even though it was expensive at $24 it was really tasty. For my entrée I chose the premium Moriawase, which is a chef’s selection of nigiri plus one sushi roll. Everything was delicious and again slightly expensive but I expected that when I made the reservation. Overall it was great quality seafood and I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of sushi especially if you are at or near LA Live or South Park.

This restaurant was by far the most racist experience I’ve ever had as a black man at a restaurant. The waiter was rude and loud. He stereotyped and belittled my fiancé and me. He treated us as if we were uncivilized. He talked over us continuously when asking questions, and wouldn’t allow us to order what we wanted. Our drinks took 15 mins, the food took very long, and were brought to the table one at a time (10-12 mins apart). He did not refill our water and brought the check without verifying if we were done or ready to go.

We witnessed the waiter provide courteous, patient, and professional service to a non-black couple sitting at the next table from us. He introduced himself and did not talk over them. Their drinks were promptly delivered, and their food arrived on time and together. He continuously filled their water and checked on their table. The waiter treated them with the utmost respect and value.

A complete opposite of the service he provided us. The disrespect went further to the extent that when we told him we were through eating, he loudly insisted we take the leftovers to go. We told him we were good, but he disregarded it. He incessantly tried to subjugate us to take the leftovers home more than six times obnoxiously in a condescending tone. By far the worst and most racist experience we’ve ever experienced. We hurriedly got out of there.

If you are a person of color, please beware of this restaurant. Spend your...

I love Katsuya's Miami locations, so was extremely excited to go to one of the locations in LA. Unfortunately, when we got there, we were seated with a very rushed/inattentive server. My two friends and myself were not comfortable asking him many questions because he seemed annoyed to even have to wait on us. He really didn't seem to care what we wanted and when I told him I was gluten intolerant, seemed to shut down even more. He offered me a couple of options and when I asked why other things weren't gluten free (to see if they could be modified somehow since I'd eaten them before at other locations), he replied "I don't know what to tell you, they just aren't". We weren't in a huge rush but had told him we needed to leave for the airport ~90 minutes later and the meal took nearly an hour to come out - apparently the kitchen was backed up somehow even though we were there around 4pm. It definitely didn't help that it took him about 20-25 minutes to even take our order for any food at all.

This was totally different treatment than I've gotten at other locations and I was really disappointed. Don't waste your money here and go to a more authentic sushi restaurant (or at least try a different location where you might luck out and not get a server with an attitude...
