The only reason I gave this three stars was because at the end of the day, I still love their bourbon. We visited over the weekend and we were beyond excited to check this place out! Angelās Envy is by far one of our favorites! We unfortunately couldnāt get into a tour but we were told that we could still join their Bourbon and Chocolate tasting that would be approximately a 10 minute experience. This experience was $15 per person and we each got two tastings and one chocolate (we were told two chocolates and two tastings). We were still excited to participate due to our love for this brand. Unfortunately, we were (not so nicely) greeted by our āguideā Greg. Greg acted like he hated his job and everyone in the room. Iām pretty sure our ātasting experienceā lasted about 5 minutes. He told us we each got 3 sips of each drink and we basically had to down the drinks to keep up/ if we didnāt finish it in exactly 3 sips. He would ask us questions about the bourbon and what we tasted. He would then answer with āIāll allow that answerā or āthatās unacceptableā. He made everyone in the room feel like an idiot and would give rude answers to basic questions. One individual in our group asked if the bourbon we sampled would be good with ribeye and Greg replied with,āI said red meat, didnāt I? Yeahā. He ended our āexperienceā by saying,āJust like this has a rye finish, youāre doneā he then clapped his hands and walked out. We spoke to other people that were in our group and they all felt the same way. We were extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with our experience. Especially for $15 each!? Itās a bummer to say out of all the visits we made on this trip, this was our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAngel's Envy was our last stop for my pal's bachelorette bourbon trail. It was my second favorite tour behind Woodford Reserve, but that's only because WR gave me more food to eat, lol.
Angel's Envy offers a really nice blend of seeing the actual mechanics of bourbon-making -- all the cool machinery and science -- plus an adequate amount of tastes paired with some nice chocolates for a small bite.
Our guide, Bailee, was probably my favorite of the guides we had on our trip. She was knowledgeable, fun, and her speech felt not at all wooden or canned. It seemed like she was having a good time with us, which made things more fun and loose.
The tour was very in-depth and we got to see all over the facility. Despite being busy, the communal areas like the gift shop and bar never felt cramped; the vibes are airy and modern and comfortable.
One random thing to look out for is that the second floor has wooden floors and they're a little hazardous in heels. I'm probably a special case because idk how many people would wear heels to a distillery tour, but in my defense, we had a nice dinner reservation immediately afterward, lol. So if you're in the same very-specific boat as me, watch your step!
This place did give the fewest pours out of any of the tours I went on (at 3), so if tasting a lot of bourbon is your objective, a different tour might be a better fit. That being said, they were paired with some really delicious local chocolates and they were, to me, among the best tasting bourbons I tried (although to be fair, I'm not much of a bourbon drinker and don't know what I'm talking about lol).
Thanks for a nice cap-off to our day of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalked in on Friday 1/10/20 inquiring about a tour. We were informed the 20$ signature tour had sold out for the day, our next option was the 45$ inside the barrel tour which was supposedly an in depth look at the distillery. There was also the 99$ bottle your own experience which wasn't explained very well to us. We bought the 45$ tour which lasted about 45 mins or so. Our guide was Tommy, he was pleasant, knowledgeable and entertaining. The facility is top notch, visually appealing, lots of merchandise and friendly staff. The tour itself was highlighted with a tasting straight from a barrel which was awesome, but that was really the only thing that distinguished this from any other 20 tour/tasting. The tasting was good, generous pours and explanations on products. The angels envy product line exceeded our expectations taste wise, definitely enjoyed the Rye and Bourbon. Once the tour/tasting wrapped up, we overheard another couple discussing the bottle your own experience. Turns out, the 99$ allowed both of them to walk through the distillery with an abbreviated tour to a self bottling station were they would fill a bottle to take home. Talk about a downer after dropping 90$ for the same tour we had paid half that for at other locations. My advice would be to get a thorough explanation of the tours available before making a decision. I would like to add again, the staff at this location was one of the friendliest we encountered on our long weekend. One of the gals even made us a list of other distilleries, breweries, and places to eat while we...
