July, 1 week, 4 ppl stay: Central location, about 5 min walk to grocery store. Unit not directly on main street, view to parking lot/trash containers. Mattresses and sheets were to our liking. 8 small bath towels (1 for each possible person). We would prefer blankets and decorative pillow covers that are washed (these were nice but smell dusty) Enough TP for the week, paper towels, dishwashing soap (many places do not do this). 5 chairs at dining table (as shown in photo though see description notes 6 - one chair must have been somewhere else), 3 at kitchen counter. Good seating (many places do not have enough compared to nr. can sleep). Place might feel be tight for 8 ppl. Had enough cooking utensils (several pots/pans could be tossed). Appliances all in working order. No spices, sugar etc left from previous guests. Half bath noted for main bedroom consists of toilette, sink. upstairs bathroom has a tight RV sized shower stall. Tight even for a small woman. Balcony is small, used for storing wood. Quite dark (even mid-summer) due to large roof overhand, though bright white walls. One fan for upstairs. Wifi: poor performance on a Video phone call, no other devices on. A slew of board games in closet. Acceptably clean, though since we take our shoes off inside we noticed that we quickly got dirty socks/feet. Did not use the TV or wood burning fireplace. On our trip complex was fairly quiet during the week. Got significantly more busy Friday night. The grounds would have received good ratings from me if it had not been for the roofing activity and the timing of staff maintenance efforts. BBQs set at main parking area, and few tables surrounded by roofing materials. (and too few, busy at weekday dinner time). Pool (heated) / whirlpool hours 3p-10p. On several days staff used gas blowers to clean parking/street billowing dust and dirt into area during open hours. Could not use whirlpool a few days bc it was cold. On one day it was cleaned after 3p to be clean and hot several hours later. Smokers at pool (several, including owners who imo have more rights than renters) did not stop smoking when others arrived. Anyone looking to rent at Horizons 4 in Aug/Sept ’23: ask about roofing. Several owners and renters said they were not informed of timing of roofing. My rating would be a 3-4. Don't know if Horizons 4 would be my top choice for future...
Read moreMy family stayed in the Village in unit #1416. The fees were almost the same price as the room, and with this, we expected the room (& balcony) to be very clean, stocked and well taken care of. The village itself had 1 pool and spa, which were inhabitable due to the merky/cloudy water. We would never allow our kids to get in as even in the early morning, while walking our dog, the water still wasn’t clear! The room had a broken kitchen drawer that fell apart when opened. The toilette ran the entire trip and even stopped flushing at one point. There was an ironing cradle, with no iron, and there was a portable hair dryer in the bath room, with a hairdryer wall base plate, with nothing on top. The patio had a thick layer of dusty yellow pollen, which made sitting on the patio a sneeze fest. The bedroom screen was bent in half, so it did not close. Therefore leaving the window open on a hot summer night, only would’ve allowed the mosquitos to come in. The portable a/c only really cools the living area, and not the bedroom, so having a functional window would have been nice. The bed had a quilt and pillows on it that could be purchased at a cute shop in the village. But the couch had pumpkin & gnome pillows on it, which I thought was very “oh whatever we have left, just put it in the rental.” Luckily we brought all of our own stuff, so we didn’t need to ask for anything. We tried to call and report the broken items in need of repair, but after three calls & no human to pick up, I gave up. We didn’t feel it was our job to call for everything we found in the unit in need of repair, as that is the property managers job to check the units between guests. We also didn’t wish to spend our entire vacation with maintenance guys in our room. This is the third time we’ve stayed in a Mammoth 5 star managed property. It’s been hit & miss. All we know is when we purchase our own Mammoth condo, we will manage...
Read moreThis is going to be a very realistic and honest review. Staff 10/10 very friendly, always answered my emails and my phone calls. Had a little hiccup checking in because our entrance code wasn't working and they promptly gave us a new one that worked perfectly. We also had a few concerns about a light bulb being out and the patio door not locking very well and they sent a maintenance man over the very same day. Very cleanly, spacious enough for the seven of us that stayed, and gave us a secluded private feel since we were in the corner away from the other units. However, the units are very close to each other and I think it helped that we didn't have neighbors at the time we were staying. The garage does fit two cars but the first couple times you pull in you definitely need someone making sure you don't hit the sides because it's a pinch. (By the end of the week we were pro's at reverse parking into them though) Was stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, some coffee, and trash bags. Grill worked perfectly as well as all of the appliances. Some of the downsides were in the listing it says none of the rooms have connecting walls, however, they do. Both downstairs bedrooms share a wall. Also the downstairs bedrooms were set to have the heat automatically turn on at night which we didn't find out until a few nights in... so the first few nights were hot and sweaty given that there's no AC. However there are plenty of windows in the main rooms that gave us a good breeze. Walking distance from some markets, shops, restaurants, and the village (you do have to walk up hill to get there). 10 minutes away from Red's Meadow, 20 minutes away from Convict Lake. Hard to beat. Overall we were very happy with the unit and would very much like to stay again sometime...
