I was genuinely looking forward to visiting Doug and Lynda's, but my experience began on a surprisingly negative note. My family and I stopped by on a quiet Monday afternoon. The parking lot was completely empty, as were the surrounding public parking areas, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity for a relaxed visit. However, the moment I stepped out of my vehicle, things took a turn.
As I exited the car with a bag of trash from lunch to toss in a public city trash can next to the parking lot, someone from the shop came running out and shouted across the lot, “Hey buddy, how long are you planning to be parked there?” The tone was rude and unnecessarily snarky. This was especially baffling since I was clearly about to enter the store. I replied, “I am going into your shop if that is what you're concerned about,” but the interaction had already soured my impression. He continued and replied, "I have to protect our lot you know"... again in a very rude tone as if he didn't believe I was planning to shop in their store.
While I understand the need to reserve parking for customers—especially with signs clearly stating so (posted everywhere)—this reaction was over-the-top and uncalled for. Given that it was mid-afternoon on a slow Monday, with my vehicle being the only one in the shop's lot, I expected a bit more courtesy and professionalism.
If I hadn’t absolutely needed an emergency pair of toddler boots that fit our son for our next-day vacation (since the ones we had purchased elsewhere were too small), I would have left right then and there. I hated giving them a penny of my money and will likely...
Read moreThe shop was awesome. I drove in from Huntsville, Texas to get my skis serviced and dropped a few hundred on new skis and boots for my daughter. My skis and my daughters new set will be available next week. This was a huge difference from the shop I tried to contact in Houston who were too busy to get it done in time for my trip to Breck. Everyone on the inside was great and they were bumping busy.
My one knock on the experience was the lady who I'm assuming is the owner of the shop with her German pointer telling me to roll down my window while I was on the phone with my wife telling her about how pumped I was to get my daughters skis. Apparently I don't look enough like her typical clientele. She very aggressively asked me if I was going into the ski store. I told her I had just come out of the store, but I don't think she believed me. She again said "well this parking lot is for customers." I assured her that I had just spent money in her store. She rolled her eyes and walked off, no "thank you", no "how was it?", no "come again". The funny thing is that the car two down from me absolutely parked and the people walked the other direction away from the ski shop in the meantime while she was busy not believing me.
So great customer service by all the staff and terrible customer service by the owner. I'll call it a wash. I would be very careful if I was her of judging a book by its cover. My original intention was to spend a lot more money on my return trip when I came in to pick up my skis. I'm not...
Read moreI was very pleased to know that I could find my size and style at this location. (Kelly) was very helpful she made me feel like I was the only customer in the store. She offered every brand, size, and gave me an honest opinion to help me feel comfortable with my try-ons. I told her that I would definitely rate this location a 5 star based on her professional customer service. I was told that items would be ordered so I returned later in the week to see if the Obermeyer Ski jacket was in. This is where my 5 star rating went down. When I asked about the order, I was brushed off by the gentleman and was told the jacket wouldn't be ordered. I asked the gentleman how could I get the jacket to the store as I was assured I could get items ordered. He stated to me "I don't know what to tell you, just go Google online" and he walked away to the back office. It was only another customer to convince me to purchase the Obermeyer Malta Ski Pants... my intentions were to spend a great deal of money; after all this is my first ski trip. Maybe the gentleman did not feel that I would actually purchase the items. But I did what he said... I performed a Google search and purchased a significant amount of items to make my first Ski trip a success. Thank you (Kelky) for spending the time in showing me the items needed for my trip. No matter who comes into your store 2 minutes of attention for every customer no matter of the perception of them you have...
