A good Ranch 99 locale as it's not as crowded as the Mountain View location and better than the one across Costco Automation. Nice, friendly, helpful staff here. You can only use 1 entrance/exit door, the other door is blocked off.
They have the biggest assortment of pig parts in their meat section, which mom loves.
Price of Enoki Mushrooms used to be $0.99/bunch imported from Korea but now it's $2.99, same price as the Korean Markets. I guess Enoki prices needed to have tripled everywhere for some reason :/
This was the only Asian Market that was selling the last of the Hachiya Persimmons at end of Dec 2024. The Fuyu Persimmons were all sold out everywhere by mid-December.
Unlike the Fremont Ranch 99, this place didn't sell the popular and tasty Made in Taiwan Xu Fu Ji/Hsufuchi nuts/seeds dusted crispy flaky candy/dessert bites, I'm including a pic of it.
Their bakery now has better tasting and better flavored selections, whereas you'd have to walk next door for Shengkee Bakery before for pastries. Ranch 99 Bakery's Coconut Milk Butter Bread is SO delicious, not too sweet, just a little sweetness, not oily, light and fluffy, a touch of coconut flavor, we'll definitely be back even just for this one item alone! $4.59/irregular oblong-ish loaf. Sorry about the pic showing half a loaf, should've taken a pic prior to...
Read moreFrom my multiple experiences here, the employees are routinely unfriendly and non-hospitable. I have been to this market several times over the years, as a frequent traveller and guest at nearby hotels. I usually come for fruit, snacks, or drinks.
This visit, March 2024, I purchased two precooked/packaged meat (chicken) products. Both were expired. Not by a few days; by years. I would call to let the manager know but having several products that are two plus years expired, idk. Besides, from my experience with the employees being unwelcoming, I decided not to call and speak to one about this. The products both expired 12/2021.
The store has a wide variety of products across the Asian culture - Korean, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and more, are all represented.
Most of the packaged products have MSG and or other preservative chemicals. They charge your for grocery bags, but if youre a first time customer, you might not know this. The cashier didn't speak to me, until I said "Hello how are you?" As she was scanning the products.
Overall, an interesting experience to see such a variety of products. Just be careful regarding spoilage, heavy preservatives, charge for bags, + no...
Read moreThey have pretty much everything for most Asian of daily need. However, I found their products are more catering toward Taiwanese other than people from other parts of Asian. Price tend to be more expensive for the same products comparing to non-chain independent Asian grocery stores or less massive supermarkets, averaging 15 to 30% more costly. The upside is that they are one stop for almost all store since it's one of the biggest 99 Ranch in Bay area with lot of selections. Also, one of the cleanest. But lately, I think they over kill it with bleach to a point you can only smell bleach in the air to a point which you literally get suffocated. There are always lines but they move relatively quick. Parking is a problem, especially during meal time and off work hours. And it's worse than before due to parking spaces taken away for out door sitting. Driving through the parking lot is a little bit tricky too because of the outdoor...
