I am writing this review for two reasons. To remind people to take their parking slip to get it validated v. $5!!!!! I looked for some to post a reconnaissance about getting the COVID vaccine. I went yesterday as a MPS educator. The overall process was SO smooth. I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment and waited in a screening line for my temperature check and appointment confirmation. Once inside, I met with another person to get two sheets of paper and sat down to fill them out. I was called with my appointment group about 2 minutes after finishing to two sheets of paper. We socially distanced the entire time and we each met with an RN for a 3 minute verbal explanation about what's happening and going over my 2 forms I filled out. Afterward, into the next room for the dose (Pfizer) and the process there took about 5 minutes (additional questions, tech filled out my COVID vaccine medical card for my records, and he left to get my dose). Injected (my 15 minute of recovery time started then) and moved to another room to wait (1 minute) to sit down and schedule my second dose (3 minutes). I was able to get an appointment that worked perfectly with my schedule and then to a socially distanced waiting area to wait out my remaining time (about 10 minutes by then) before I could leave. I got a cool Crush COVID sticker and they were handing out City of Milwaukee Masks. There was even a selfie station to take a photo for social media by a placard about Crushing COVID. When I headed outside, I discovered that I could get my parking validated so I left to get my parking slip and come back in to get it validated. Overall process it took 40 minutes. For me about 50 minutes because I had to go back and forth to validate my parking. I hope that helps. I can't wait until COVID is in the rear view mirror. Be...
Read moreI've been to several different conventions at the Wisconsin Center and they have all gone smoothly. The security/staff is always friendly and helpful and they keep things pretty clean. Parking will typically run you at least $20 unless you are lucky enough to find street parking but there isn't much to be had. There is a sky bridge to the Hyatt that also goes all the way south to the Grand Avenue mall and then heads east to the Riverside and across the river to the Chase building.
There very limited options for food in the center. I know many conventions bring in their own food vendors but not always. In those cases all you have to choose from is an extremely overpriced vending machine and a coffee shop that never seems to be open. Also their grill was open during the last convention I went to but the people running it were constantly lost and running out of things. The skywalk makes getting to other restaurants easier so long as you're willing to walk. If you like Thai food I recommend The King and I which you get to by crossing the bridge to the Hyatt, then heading east across the N Old World 3rd Street.
The conventions they host frequently coordinate with the Hyatt also so if you are going to be staying overnight I recommend checking the convention's website to see if they have any deal going on or just call and ask the Hyatt.
They usually have a few conventions going on at once so it may be a good idea to check their website and see what is going on at the same time. This can lead to some really great reactions from people who are there for something like a bridal show when they see everyone dressed up for the...
Read moreThis is reviewing The Immersive Nutcracker being presently shown at the Wisconsin Center and the facility.
The Wisconsin Center is always lovely, clean and well maintained. Several parking lots around for ease of access and the staff is always very helpful.
The Immersive Nutcracker being presently shown was a disappointment. Tickets were $30 and, in my opinion, way overpriced. I paid that to see the immersive Van Gogh exhibit last year and it was a phenomenal exhibit in multiple rooms. As for the nutcracker, it is one large room playing a very small fraction of the story playing simultaneously on each side of the room. Sometimes the projectors were not in focus and story was so grossly edited that it only took 30 minutes. No talking, just music and a mix of human and cartoon-like video. There is a gazebo with steps to set on and some round platforms to sit on and watch but nothing with a back (in case anyone looking to visit can’t sit without one). Most people just stood. Story line only consisted of the main girl and an extremely modified and severely shortened script. Little kids seemed to have more fun running around trying to step on the moving snowflakes and circles on the floor than be interested in the main screen. Overall it was a waste of money which really disappointed me because I’ve seen the actual nutcracker ballet several times and love it. If you want to get your moneys worth and the complete story, go to the PAC and see the...
