There is not much left to see except for the spa I visit called Luxor which I stopped going to because their best tech relocated. Also the lady who had the kiosk on the lower level by the popcorn stand who did makeup and slayed eyebrows left I don't like letting to many people do my brows and she always did them perfectly. So I went where she was now she's not there I don't know what happened. So today I decided to go and get my nails done there and guess what its closed permanently. There is nothing there it's sad everything that opens closes. Most if the shops are "remodeling" those that are not closed permanently which are most of the small businesses that were there like the Gyro place that was there since the mall opened. I never even tried a gyro before she made a deal with me to just try one and if I didn't like it she would buy me lunch somewhere else. I honestly fell in love with gyros first bite. Now I have to go to Oakland gyros to get a comparable gyro. Anyway I hope something affordable opens up and actually stays open because as of right now there is no reason for them to even unlock the doors no GameStop no book store only two shoe store almost a block worth...
Read moreThe Avenue, formally Grand Avenue Mall, has really had a face lift the past couple years. Its great to see what was a failing mall/glorified foot court a couple years ago, now a local attraction for locals and visitors. The Avenue has a lot of history behind it, once the only major indoor shopping facility in Milwaukee proper and the one time largest food court in Wisconsin, its great to see the thoughtful re-vamp of a historic part of Milwaukee. The newly re-branded Avenue is considered a shopping center, shared office space, and apartment building. While there are few retail stores, and plans for one or two more, it is not really a shopping center. Just on the other side of the building is a bustling food court wit many great options from local vendors. The many retail stores at one point have been converted to apartments, a creative way of keeping the historic look of the mall space. The space continues to have more potential and its great to see the history that...
Read moreThe shops of grand avenue are a lovely assortment. I visited GNC, TJ Maxx, Ayzha, La Delicatesse (I think), and the bookstore on the first floor. The bookstore had an excellent variety of new and used books - surpassed my expectations. Good quality, great collection, and reasonable prices there. Ayzha was a gem! The artwork blew me away and the jewelry was so unique I couldn't pass up taking a necklace home with me. Had a ham and Swiss croissant from the French food outlet (la Delicatesse I believe it was called) on the second floor. It was delicious and I highly recommend it. The shops were all clean and well kept. They also sell fresh fruit on the first floor! I was pleasantly surprised at that since most malls and shop collections only...
