I wanted to write this review for a few reasons. First off, I was so happy getting to visit this venue for my first time. It was intimate, small, cozy and magical. The architecture and structure of the building and the art is something to see! The prices of beverages were actually affordable and not ones that will make you feel sick thinking about the next day- lots of soda/water options also. The staff were all friendly, kind, and welcoming! Lastly, as an avid concert goer- I had an experience on the way to this show that was unlike any others (THANKFULLY) I had purchased tickets from a website that issued them via email. On our 2-hour drive to the show and getting to the city early to eat, I decided to get my tickets that arrived that morning downloaded, only to have endless issues that were the website's fault and not mine but were impossible to get fixed. I spent about 5 hours total on the phone/email/live chat trying to get my tickets only to be left sickly stressed and worried I wouldn't see my show. As a last resort, I called the venue, assuming they could not do much for me but in tears, I explained what was happening. They worked to retrieve my tickets from the external application and had them printed and ready to go for me when I arrived. I was so grateful for the extra effort and kindness and wish I had called them first. Other venues I have attended would have never cared or assisted. This did not go unnoticed and I hope to go back to Turner Hall soon! :) I really enjoyed this concert extra because you can get right up to the stage and getting to be in such a small area to enjoy with others was so neat! All of these details made the...
Read moreVenue security staff allow people to talk through the WHOLE show, beginning to end, while the artist is performing. Good luck hearing your favorite band or focusing on the music. There will be people talking loudly at every vantage point throughout the venue, having a never-ending conversation. Because the security staff enable it.
Waste of time, waste of money. And parking in the surrounding area will be at least $20. So what is advertised as $29.50 a person ends up being $102.53 for two tickets, by the time you walk in the door.
Support a better venue instead. Like Shank Hall. Someplace they don't price gouge you with convenience fees ($11.52) and facility fees ($8.14). I didn't see any recent restoration work in this place... kind of seems like a dishonest fee when they're making $8.14 x 400 people = $3256 every night off of it.
Maybe they could just pay one guy $3256 to have difficult conversations with the people talking the whole damn time. This venue doesn't respect the artist onstage.
Did I mention they charge $7 for a Pabst? Come on.
UPDATE 4/18/23
I've reached out to Turner/Pabst Theatre Group twice by e-mail and 3 times by phone. Ignored at every turn.
Avoid Pabst Theatre Group's venues - they really don't care about your experience. Just pocketing your money and coasting on their ownership of every major venue...
Read moreCame to see Kai Humphries and Daniel Sloss. The show was hilarious and I truly enjoyed it.
I'm glad I can enjoy variety at this venue from popular comedians to niche edm artists like Ganja White Night and Dirt Monkey.
This venue also has decent bathroom facilities so there's never a long wait and they're fairly maintained.
I only have 2 complaints and they're specific to this comedian show: (1) my 19 year old brother wanted a cup of water, but the bartenders said the only thing available were $5 cans of water which I thought was ridiculous. (2) the folding chairs were UNCOMFORTABLE. I developed a twinge about 30 minutes into the show and I felt bad for bothering the ppl around me because I had to constantly shift to provide myself some temporary relief. I thought it was just my 31 year old body deteriorating, but my 19 year old brother and 20 year old sister both also complained that they could hardly focus on the show because of how uncomfortable the chairs were.
So as much as I enjoy this venue, I'll come back for standing concerts, but anything seated, I will refrain from attending until I hear their chairs have upgraded.
I'd normally rate this 3-3.5 stars because of the chairs. But I'll give it a 3.5 to 4 stars because I truly enjoy variety.
