Every time I show up in city center to look at the murals near the Hennepin Avenue entrance I am beset by no less than two guards! Each time they tell me no recording is allowed within city center. They not only approach me, but they also STAY AND WATCH ME! As if I am the biggest criminal they have! As if they do not have other duties to perform!
THIS IS HARASSMENT!
These guards are not only harassing me, but lying to me, like they have something to hide, that my recording of the murals might expose!
Or do the owners have something to hide that these murals might reveal, and the guards are instructed to "discourage" recording of these murals?
One guard told me the murals are owned by the Marriot hotel connected to city center. That would mean city center guards have no jurisdiction over any recordings of the murals. But then later, when I brought this up to another pair of guards, they informed that I was "misinformed" by the other guard.
PLUS, i have recently seen photos of various locations within city center by others that are posted here. Some are very recent! Showing that recordings within city center ARE ALLOWED!
So I am the only one prevented from recording! And the only one the guards harass when it comes to my presence near the murals!
I AM THE ONLY ONE LIED TO!
I AM THE ONLY ONE HARASSED BY GUARDS WHO CLEARLY CRAVE CONFLICT AND HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH THEIR TIME!
The murals are the only things that I am interested in recording for research into minneapolis' history. Which I am interested in.
Those murals, I have discovered recently, are just blown up versions of photos found in other buildings. So there is no actual reason why they cannot be recorded.
Which makes me suspect that recording city center's versions may expose something city center owners or staff does not want known!
So now the murals are legal evidence, to show in a court of law that they are innocuous and that city center guards have no reason whatsoever to tell me I cannot record them. Let alone harass me every time I stop to look at them.
Are the owners going to order their guard dogs down and allow me to record these murals without harassment?
Or do I have to take them to court?
What do the owners have to say about this?
I will record any encounter with city center guards from now on! It is my...
Read moreRight in the heat of downtown Minneapolis the location can't be beat if downtown is where you want to be! You will find a variety of stores and placed to eat in and around City Center...many of which are not the typical chains you see everywhere so there is definitely variety. If it's later in the day keep in mind many locations downtown close earlier than typical. You might read other reviews saying how "back in the day this place was better" or "everything is expensive designer blah blah" or 'needs more security" etc. These examples are a little one sided. There is nothing less safe than any other establishment located in the middle of a large city. "Better" and "expensive" are relative terms. Over time things change may change and its obvious that City Center has many things in place for it to be a successful destination. While everyones experience is different the reality is City Center is a great place and...
Read moreNeed to stop calling City Center a shopping mall. City Center as a shopping mall has been long gone. This is a half empty hulk (and after makeovers to Target Center & Block E - now has distinction of being ugliest building downtown ) This is a skyway between the former Multi -Foods building and hubs of actual activity
Some shopping...Marshall in basement, NeedlessMarkups aka NeimenMarcus, John Edwards custom shoes and Brooks Brothers..catering to the skyway crowds. But the days when ever corner had a shop...from a Victoria's Secret to small independent shops. Now...a couple food stops...including an incredibly loud salad chopper in a kiosk (so noise cAnnot be missed?) Mostly businesses catering to business. MN Bar Assoc takes the 3rd foor.
Middle of first floor is wide open and makes for great Christmas decor and lunch time music! Fronting Hennepin Ave is Fogo to Chao - the love...
