I really could have done a better sermon.
Somekinda barriers to the entrance not sure if it's the only one. Cop Car parked there. I felt unwelcoming like a secret nightclub entrance.. Got inside the beautiful temple late. Came around to see a ginormous TV screen (covering up the massive organ pipes. (Never heard them however) Some lady on the TV was ranting about fasting. I guess it was a 21 day (Daniel) fast and there were three days to go. Pep rally not making excuses etc. This lady was lit up. I don't know if it was a recording, but she referenced Wesley. My Sermon: We fast to commiserate with others that are hungry and thirsty. When you fast your body slows down. Not speeds up. You become more aware of impulses and meditate about food, health, and a sustainer of nourishment. We don't eat rocks. Everything is alive. Where did it come from? How did it grow? Was the seed dead and brought back to life in the soil? How did the animals live that you consume. You might get a glimpse or whisper of something that is VERY quiet and subtle. You know there are still folks in this world that throw animals into a volcano in hopes of better crops. How farmers rely on the farm. And us too. If I had to kill a chicken for dinner I'd probably "do" the salad. Use your reason don't waste. Give thanks for your meals even if it embarrasses you. Others will benefit. Don't forget what you'd eat if you had no food. Look it up. Stay away from Revelations - it's Satan's Chapter. But it's there for you, that are diseased, to hasten...

Odd format with the message taught by a married couple. The husband and wife delivered the message together. They tried waaaay too hard to be young and hip. It seemed like they had something they wanted to say and then later looked to see if they could pluck verses that fit their narrative. I think that is very backwards. The message only mentioned God a dozen times. And those were just tossed in there as an after thought to sound religious.
I have problems with loud crashes and noises due to some medical stuff. So the music was too loud for me to go there. But I am sure most people with have no issue with it.
The people seemed nice. I went to the 9am service. It mostly consisted of young people in their twenties to early thirties.
Overall I am not going back. I don’t think this church will aid me in any sort of real growth...
Read moreI've been a part of the Substance 'family' for 3-4 years...the days before our beautiful Northtown Campus and Wesley. To watch our church and family grow has been an absolute joy. I know I'm a part of a church that brings glory and joy to God's heart and kingdom. His presence fills every crevice and space during each and every service. I attend both campuses/locations which helps me feel very connected. I love our pastors. I love the Substance team. Tithes and offerings feel like a blessing, rather than a chore. I know what I offer each week is truly helping to further God's kingdom and plan. It feels absolutely amazing! The music is incredible...there's no better worship team. I'm moved to tears of joy and filled with love each and every time. God is...
