I’ve gone to Morro Bay many times as both a kid and adult, and still one of my favorite places to go. It has some awesome links to world war 2, and even some old pillars and I believe part of the T shape pier by the coast guard building is still 40s era. The plaque itself is just off the walking path I would say just NW of the three stacks. I know it’s been there since mid 90s but never saw the old location before it was moved. My other half is Filipino so it meant a lot to her that we found it. I also have some but a forever link myself to the date (Oct 18th). Hopefully someday the park service will clean the plaque itself because it’s hard to read.

Edit: Since my original visit, they moved the rock and glammed it up with flowers and historic signage! Plus, they moved it right by the parking lot, in plain view. 😍 Its neat to know this exists! I tried to take the photo in a way that makes it easier to locate because I walked by it a few times before I even found it! (Notice the 3 pillars in the back and the slanted tree for référence) it was pretty chilly there even though it was sunny in Pismo, just up the coast. At any rate, it was a nice experience and a beautiful walk along the water #proudpinay

The latest location of the historic rock commemorating the first landing of Filipinos on this country is now closer to what appears to be a power plant (3 tall structures emitting smoke). Here are photos from the rock’s front & back sides for perspective. Hope it helps other pinoys/pinays looking to see this point in our history! (The rock apparently gets relocated from time to time, but seems to accompany an informational signage seen in the back, which helps one locate the rock itself (see second photo).

Nice place to park and people watch and watch the wildlife. There is also easy walking on the path or bike path to Morro Rock or to the pier for restaurants.

Their plaque needs some cleaning due to the salt air. It was difficult to read the monument.

Wish it was better. A little lame for as important it is. Just glad it was there.
