Due to our membership at another facility closer to our home, we haven't been to County Ice in a few years. But I remember really liking it before. We went today (summer time) for the 1:15-3:15 public session. Price was pretty standard...$5 to skate and $3 for the littles. The front staff was very helpful and attentive. My problem was that they had a ton of figure skaters with their coaches practicing during the public skating. One of the coaches was very rude to our kids and acted like we were interrupting her private skate time. Another coach was teaching a skater jumps with the harness and just about crashed into skaters a few times. Honestly, when we usually ice skate I love watching the advanced skaters do their thing. But it is entirely different with a coach yelling and being surprisingly negative to their skaters. There weren't like just one or two - it seemed like there were at least 5-6 coaches and skaters. I was surprised because they told us it was too dangerous for the children (5 year olds) to use the skate walkers and too dangerous for them to take a break in the hockey team seating ... but it isn't too dangerous for a coach to have a skater harnessed right in the 'normal' skate path. Maybe it only happens during the day time public skate sessions...but I was quite disappointed. I assumed public skating is for the public...not coaching sessions...they really should have their...
Read morePublic skate not family friendly We went on a little family outing during slow public skate hours (in the afternoon on a Thursday). We brought our 15 month old in a small umbrella stroller to push her around, as we’ve seen in other ice rinks. Upon entering the facility I made sure to read all the rules in the surrounding area, and saw nothing against strollers on the ice. We only had made it one lap around when another person (I’m assuming a regular patron) approached us and told us that strollers weren’t allowed. I said that there was no written notice, and he ushered us off the ice to speak to a manager. Although the manager said it was “rink policy” that there were no strollers on the ice, I said that it wasn’t written anywhere. As we were leaving, that same patron was complaining about the ice skating walkers for little children to learn how to skate. I heard the manager say that “those aren’t allowed on the ice either”. So don’t bring your little ones here if you’re planning on learning how to skate!! Go to Seven Peaks Ice Arena!! I have never had any...
Read moreSo this place was great and all up until our last few experiences. My boyfriend is a great skater. What he does is he’ll put headphones on, skate, sing and dance a little- but really who doesn’t do this ?? In The last few experiences there’s been a group of people (boys) who would not stop starring and whispering about him. They’ve been harassing him and making rude and incredibly false allegations about him. They told the ice guard that he was harassing them when really this group of boys were recording him. I really hope management does something about this because we’ve been coming here for three years consistently 2xs a week, every week. We pay good money , and are honest people. Basically, be aware that a lot of judgmental come...
