The food is bland and not good at all. I made it clear I have food allergies, but it was completely disregarded.
The "fire grilled chicken" has never seen a grill. It is identical in color, texture, and flavor (i.e. none) to Costco canned chicken chunks. I mean identical... that or the chicken is just boiled. It has no flavor at all and is white. Id normally expect flame grilled to mean it will have some char and color/flavor, but thats not the case.
Other than the chicken, we got one meal with white rice, that also has no flavor. We also got teriyaki noodles for one dish, and its just boiled spaghetti noodles. We both got the mac salad, which was artfully arranged on top to make you think there's a bit more than 5 noodles, but there aren't. The teriyaki sauce comes from a big plastic jug, so I don't believe anything is actually cooked here.. just assembled. There also aren't any vegetables at all, so it isn't a very balanced meal -- even then, its still just not good. Call me crazy, but most hawaiian bbq has at least some cabbage or carrots.. so it was very strange not having any vegetable in any part of the purchased meals.. not even in the mac salad.. so thats strange.
Your paying about $12 for plain rice or noodles and canned chicken. Don't waste your money. Go to Mo Bettahs, L&L, or teriyaki grill. You will pay the same (or less) and actually enjoy the food. This went straight in the bin and I instead had Ramen noodles. We were shopping at best buy, and this was nearby, so we took it home to eat. It wasn't worth going back, because I don't believe anything is actually cooked at this establishment. Save your time and money. And if you truly want just plain rice or noodles with canned chicken, just make it at home. The ingredients will cost less than $1 a serving and it will likely taste better.. or at least like something. The only flavor in the meal is the sauce, which again, isn't made in store. So just buy the pre-made panda sauce at the store, and it will taste the exact same.
Overall, the food isn't worth the price. Even if it was $5 a meal, it still wouldn't be worth it, or taste good. I cant overlook their disregard for food allergies, and I fully understand why nobody else was there. Just go somewhere else, and save your money. . Go to Mo Bettahs, L&L, or teriyaki grill. You will pay the same (or less) and actually enjoy the food.
Its a shame they call themselves a hawaiian grill, because there's no grill at all, and its a disgrace to...

Food portion: Average for the prices, essentially in the whole, paying for a large scoop of macaroni-rice. This is the first I eyed on, hard to miss. Meat portion is child size servings for a 4 year old.
If I wanted a majority of the servings to be macaroni-rice; can make at home. Didn't paid $12.96 for a full plate of rice-macaroni, kiddie pieces of teriyaki chicken.

It wasn't the island grill experience expected. In addition, asked to get a receipt or will not receive. The one area that's the most noticeable was the counter service. It wasn't a memorable or 4 star cordial-courteous roll out even if it is a Rumbi Island Grill eatery.
There are lots of restaurants in Sandy patrons can choose from, and new restaurants going up all the time. Restaurants are very competitive businesses. Must raise the bar for returned/repeated business, if want to win.
I'm in the sales industry and understand the field. Sometimes, restaurants don't get a second chance to do things right the 2nd round, when restaurants could right in the first place.
If i were running the Sandy location, I'd have a monthly employees meeting-training with on-sight staff. Customer service, is top priority. A restaurant must create a welcoming feel behind the counter, greetings. They fell short.
There's no need to contact or email to info@rumbi.com (if employees aren't well trained already or being retrained successfully to represent Rumbi, I'm not offering free business restaurant advice or restaurant consultation).
This experience is truly is Aloha, hello - goodbye...

I went in and was first confused by the menu. Having lived in Hawaii, I expected to see terri beef, chicken katsu, or kahlua pork somewhere. To my surprise it was nowhere to be found on their menu. The attendant then asked me what I wanted, totally thrown off by the weird dishes i didnt recognize, and no pictures to show what they were, I asked "Do you have Terri Beef?" To which he replied, "We have Rice Bowls?" Go anywhere in hawaii and ask for a rice bowl, no one will know what you're talking about. Unsure of this whole thing, i got a half bowl of rice with some stringy beef slices sprinkled on top (maybe a mouthfull). I also ordered their macaroni dish on the side. My total was $12.50 for a half dish... is a full dish of string beef $25??? Okay, im thinking, maybe its awesome, lets give it a shot. The beef tasted the way it looked, horribe. The rice was old, and it seemed like they ran out of mayo for the macaroni salad. Really? Who made this place? Hawaiians dont go light on the sauce, they dont go light on meat, and they dont let you leave until you are full and satisfied. I...
