This is probably our 10th escape room, first time at this place. Had a party of 8 for The Legend of Atlantis, which can accommodate up to 8 players. The puzzles and clues were well thought out with a mix of run-of-the-mill escape room ciphers and puzzles, and a few pretty unique ones that were fun to discover. There were multiple doors that opened up to different rooms with small hidden passageways and crawl spaces, and although this was a cool feature and could be seen as a pro, it could also be seen as a con due when it first started and before expanding into the other spaces, everyone was packed into small space for the first 2 or 3 rooms....and we even had 2 small children with us. I would say this should be a maximum of 6 players, with 4 players being the ideal number. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that although we were allowed 3 clues, the woman who was giving the clues/running the game started giving us clues without asking us if we wanted help, and when she did she was very snarky and surprisingly rude, talking to us over the intercom as if we were stupid, in a very passive-agressive tone as if we should know better. Her clue-giving also left a lot to be desired as she spent a lot of time trying to point us in the right direction instead of just telling us what to look for or what we were doing wrong. Didn't want her to give us the answers, per se, but we also didn't need to burn 5 minutes as she tip-toed around trying to tell us what we needed to know without telling us what we needed to know. Perhaps she was having a bad day but she definitely took a little bit of the fun out of the experience and it would have otherwise been a 5 start room. She was very proud to tell us we failed to escape, but the guy who met us at the door said we made it in time. I think if we had another 30 seconds we would have legitimately escaped, we just needed to put the last puzzle together (we had acquired all the pieces and were putting them in place to open the final door when time expired.). An otherwise fun room that was well thought out and put together. Just hope you don't get the lady with...
Read moreI would not recommend going with young kids. We had a group of 11. Reserved ahead of time over the phone with a nice female and paid for 8 (as the rest were young children and we were told they would be free). When we arrived we were told again that the young children were free by a female staff member. Once entering the room, a male staff member told us over the intercom that upon completion we were to return to the front office and pay for the young children. We told him that we already reserved/paid over the phone and were told both on the phone and when we arrived that as long as we had/paid for a party of 8, we would not have to pay for the young ones. He said we were not informed that (in essence calling us liars) and must pay. I think this is what upset me that most. He easily could've said we were misinformed but instead made us look like liars. If we were lying then obviously we would have been made to pay for them before we started. Keep in mind these kids were so young they could not read and played with a box of jewels nearly the entire hour. Upon completion of the escape room, the female manager met us immediately at the door and said she had new staff that was unaware that all children cost $36, but still required us to pay for another ticket. I understand that we may have been misinformed, but had we had been informed of this prior to, we would have chosen one of the other multiple escape rooms available that did not charge for children 12 and under (6 of our party of 11 were ages 12 and under). We did the Atlantis room and did not complete it in time. I would not recommend this for anyone with children. You can find it much much cheaper at other escape rooms with staff that is more respectful and...
Read moreMy family and I had a fun time doing the Atlantis escape room. The set was great and the employees that helped us before we started were very polite and friendly. However, there was a misunderstanding in the middle of the game that put a damper on our entire experience.
One of the rules they stipulate before the game says you get three free hints to help you along. The voice over the intercom gave us a hint even though we didn’t ask for it, which one of my family members said out loud. But when we actually needed help later on and asked for it multiple times, no one answered us. It took like 15-20 minutes until someone helped and it was a different voice altogether. By then, we only had like 15 minutes left to finish and surprise, surprise, we didn’t end up finishing. On our way out, a lady presumably in management had a very rude and condescending tone and said that we should’ve asked for help earlier (even though we did).
I recommend that they be more specific with their rule on hints as I’m sure other people like to complete the room by themselves until they get to a point where they need a hint. This is mostly because it was unclear if the lady helping us in the beginning (without being asked) would count against one of our 3 hints. This misunderstanding ruined the whole experience for us, especially for the members of my family who had never done an escape room before. Unfortunately, we won’t be going back here in the future, which is a shame because most of the employees were actually very nice...
