I am a 72 year old grandmother who came to New York from Florida, to visit my son. I wanted to bring gifts back to my family. I googled ‘children’s store in East Village’ , and the first that popped up was an’me. I was looking for specific items and saw exactly what I wanted on their web page. I called and talked with Annie, who was incredibly knowledgeable of her stock and so helpful and friendly. I made plans to come to the store and purchase the items that I wanted. Before I could make it there I became ill. I was going back to Florida in a few days and didn’t want to leave without purchasing those items! Annie worked with me over the phone, texting pictures making sure it was what I wanted. She packaged and it is on its way to Florida. I just can’t say enough positive remarks about my experience regarding Annie and her store. The bad rap that ‘the Big Apple’ receives, certainly doesn’t apply here. When I’m in need of something ‘special and unique, I will be calling from Florida getting my needs met! BTW…My purchases were embarrassingly low. But I was treated as if I had bought $1,000 worth. Frequent this store, I’m sure you will be glad you did! THANK YOU...
Read moreThis shop needs a serious attitude adjustment. I came in last week excited to buy Sonny Angels — I respect the 1-per-person policy, but I kindly asked if I could take one more since I’m not from the US and they don’t sell them in my country. The girl behind the counter looked at me like I asked for her soul and snapped “NO” with zero friendliness, zero customer service, and zero effort. Not even a fake smile. Just pure bad vibes.
Today I called to ask if they had the Rain Series. They literally hung up on me. I called again — no answer. Third time, someone picks up, and once again I’m met with the driest, most dead-inside “no” I’ve ever heard.
Like girl… blink twice if you hate your job. Why are you treating customers like an inconvenience when we’re the reason your lights are on? I don’t know what’s going on behind that counter but the energy is UNREAL. Sonny Angels deserve...
Read moreI love the selection of toys but I have to admit it’s not a super welcoming store and that’s why I’m giving this place 3 stars (sorry Monchichis!). I agree with the rest of the reviews regarding the customer service — it’s why I prefer the Bleeker location. It’s unfortunate because this location is closest to places I frequent and I want to stick around to look at everything at my own pace but I don’t love how passive the cashier is. Sometimes you’ll touch something in the store and she’ll go rearrange it immediately (even though you already intended to/even if you didn’t even move anything) or if you grab something she’ll make a comment right away about what you picked up because she’s observing your every move. I do hope things change, I really want to...
