The most insane thing ever happened to me at this store. I was forcibly kicked out by multiple security guards for absolutely no reason at all. They are extremely aggressive here and I do not recommend coming to this store, especially if you are here to browse and learn about the items before making a purchase. Either it was incompetence from their hired security or some manager lurking in the backroom made the call but it was for no reason and it was absolutely shameful.
Never in my life has this happened to me. I was at the store for a total of one hour on 10/24/24 from a bit past 6 to a bit past 7. I'm looking for a TV and wanted to check out a specific model and make a size comparison. I was at the TV section trying to gauge the viewing angle and what size I wanted for three different TVs until a guard with a scar on his nose stated over the radio "she wants us to kick him out" and then he told me I had to leave. While I was leaving and he was walking me out I kept asking him why he was kicking me out knowing full well there was no reason and he just stayed silent. Him and another guard were walking me out when we reached the front desk and who I assume to have been some sort of manager lady was confused and was asking why they were trying to kick me out. It became clear that some sort of incompetence from the security team occured and they may have wanted to kick someone else out, or a manager in a backroom told them to do it, or the guard made the decision by himself because he thought it was weird I had the audacity to get level with the TV to assess the viewing angle and quality.
Before that I had perused other sections of the store including earlier being in the TV section until some other guy who may have had either medical issues or substance abuse issues was requesting help from the staff to purchase something but it seemed that his demeanor may have been slightly distressing and they were prepared to kick him out as well, so either they confused me for him or they are simply super aggressive with many customers and easily kick people out OF A BEST BUY as if it's some country club. That dude was kinda being weird near the items I was actually trying to check out so I went to check out other products. In the meantime I browsed and checked out phones, cameras, computers, monitors, and whatever other gadgets they have because I don't often go to physical stores and was curious. They also had a super expensive Sony A7RV camera with a missing lens and exposed sensor meaning someone may have stolen the expensive lens and the camera is exposed to damage, which I actually even pointed out to the manager but it shows you how much they pay attention to things that actually matter.
I then swung back to briefly make my mind up about what size and TV I wanted when the guard came up to me and kicked me out. It was absolutely absurd.
If it was on purpose I don't know why. Maybe they don't want people to actually browse the stores or maybe they are just racist here.
Either way when I do get my TV it will not be at Bestbuy but at Amazon. Previously I always would buy Bestbuy over Amazon when possible but I will strive to do the opposite now whenever possible. There's no point in this store even existing when you can't even browse. I don't know to this day who made the call to kick me out and if I was the right guy, but on the internet I can take as much time as possible looking at as many items as possible to make up my mind without being forcibly booted out by thugs. Read moreI used to honestly love this best buy. Super clean and always had everything I needed. As a matter of fact, around this time last year I purchased $800+ in cameras for an upcoming conference that my job hosts every year. However, the Geek Squad are so unorganized it's not even funny.
I recently brought my laptop in for repairs and drop off was totally fine. Pick up was a different story. I did raise my voice in frustration and I apologized for that but the Geek Squad is a terrible service. At around 10am I tried to schedule a pickup only to learn that their system was down. I tried calling but again their system was down and it seems impossible to get a representative on the phone. So I arrived at around 3pm on Friday thinking it would be no big deal. Upon arrival, there were 2 people in front of me who were already being serviced. There is no actual "line" which lead to the following disorganization. As I waited to talk to someone people began to pile in. The guy behind the counter asked if any one had reservations. There were about 8 of us and out of the 8 only 1 girl had a reservation. So two more help squad members come out of their hiding hole in the back at this point as they realized their system was down.
Took them until 3pm to realize their system was down. So this guy, who I'm assuming is the manager on duty, comes out and starts taking people's names down. He completely skips over me and starts taking everyone's names down, including this tall guy who skipped everyone in line. Then he finally comes to me and tells me he's going to schedule me for 4pm so to come back in an hour. At this point I was furious as I had been standing there and he completely skipped over me and scheduled me last. So I had voiced my frustration and he gave me an attitude back saying it wasn't his fault that other people made reservations and I didn't, mind you 1 person out of the 8 of us actually had a reservation, he had just decided to serviced all the pretty blonde white girls first. I'm also sure, because I had an attitude, he alerted security to watch me, but I'll get to that later.
So, after trying to make me look like an idiot because their system was down and because he decided to help all the downtown white girls first, he went and got my laptop from the back and tried to play off the line "see you didn't have to wait that long". Then tried to explain that there are procedures they have to follow, which must include helping out the pretty girls rather than helping out who was there first. So I received my laptop and went to leave, only to realize security was now watching me and following me as I left the store.
I used to work in retail and then later in sales. None of this would of ever gone down in the high end stores I've worked for. Over the past 4 years I have dropped over $2k+ on laptops, cameras, computer screen, Alexa devices. I will never return to this best buy. The item was supposed to be ready for pick up in an hour Atlantic terminal of course it was not ready in an hour and then I see on the app that the item is being shipped to the store so I changed it to shipping to my house.I received the item with no charger or cable but thought it was not a problem! I went on to Use it until I found the one terabyte version on Amazon for a comparable price so I want to return this item to the Best Buy at Union Square NYC presented item To the Best Buy employee and upfront, I told her It did not come with charger She escalated it to somebody named Vivian or Viviana Who refused to accept my return without a charger? I explained it came without the charger. She was checking the sticker to check if there is notes, of course did not believe me, which was kind of insulting especially since a lot of the open boxes in excellent condition items I bought from Best Buy came for the wrong chargers or missing cables. She proceeded to print a return label for me and asked me to ship it back and god drop it off at staples location and stated once they get it I should get the money in 5 to 7 business days or something to that sort. The item was delivered and now the app is telling me it can take up to a month to issue my refund. I did a specifically ask this Viviana lady and tell her I would not be renewing my members plus subscription which is due May 27 based on the experience and many other -ones. Her response was simply OK. I understand. such a waste of time And energy and zero respect for customers, integrity, loyalty, and obviously time! I’ve always wanted to stay at Best Buy but I have never seen a company. Who is customer service employees push you away as if it was scripted. Now I have to sit there and wait and miss out on getting my refund in time to buy the one terabyte version for that discounted price.
