Buyer Beware! I purchased a very expensive YSL purse for my wife on a Bloomingdale’s 20 percent off promotion by opening a credit card with them. I asked what the new total was after the discount and the associate said “don’t worry you will see it on your statement. Well my statement just arrived and no discount! So I called and Bloomingdale’s could not find my order! Yet they could find my address to send me my bill. No e mail was sent to me as the agent who placed the order had the wrong e mail address. I came to find out it auto populated from an account I had over a decade ago! So I have now spent an hour and a half and no one can find my order. I decide to check my text messages and found the order number. Mind you I have been inundated since I placed the order on 12-9 with additional special offers from Bloomingdale’s. To make a bad situation worse when we find the order I am told that the purchase was from the “Marketplace” and this is a 3rd party vendor and does not qualify for the discount! I was shocked when I was told this as No One ever discussed this with me. They opened the account, took my money and made their error my problem. After 2 hours on the phone I finally got to a “supervisor” who offered me a gift card and a voucher for a 20 percent discount on additional purchases. I told her that her offer was not what I signed up for and that I didn’t understand the 3rd party relationship with YSL. All I know is that the order was placed with a Bloomingdale’s representative! She clearly stated to me that I am not going to correct one mistake by making another mistake! I could not believe what I heard and said why does the consumer have to suffer at the expense of an associates lack of training. She said she understood but nothing was going to change her position. My option was to waste more of my time and return the item which I did not. I felt like I was held hostage and a take it or leave it offer which is why I am writing this review. When you spend a lot of money, with a company you think is reputable you expect better resolution. I did that in business and if an employee made an error I NEVER put the responsibility on the customer to pay for the mistake. Please read all the fine print and don’t get lost in the excitement of gifting anything or buying anything from Bloomingdale’s. There are many other retailers, especially Nordstrom who stand behind their associates and products and never treat you like this. All I did was take a link my wife sent me, made her happy with the purchase and suffered to try to get resolution. I did not need another credit card, I would have been better advised to use an existing card and earn my loyalty points. Bloomingdale’s, I am very disappointed and once I redeem your offer I will never shop...
Read moreI am a loyalist who recently made a large purchase and needed a gift shipped using same-day delivery. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! I am forced to file a police report in order to get proper professional support as Bloomingdales refuses to provide me with an investigation report and take responsibility for their failure. They stated that as long as they have photo evidence of delivery on their end, their job is done. They deliver your products via DoorDash in their standard "Big Brown Bag" and do not provide live tracking details or insight as to when your package will arrive or the Dashers name/reputation. They also do not follow your delivery instructions. I specifically asked for the delivery to be left with our security/doorman upon arrival--just as all packages are required to be delivered this way. This was not done. For additional context, I live in a quiet, family style, midrise, doorman building with little foot traffic. I work a hybrid schedule like most of us still are, I have never had any issue with deliveries, was home at the time Bloomingdale's/DoorDash claims they made the delivery, and can confirm no one made an effort knock at my door, call, or announce they have a delivery. Security measures like authorization codes and signatures were not offered. I was astonished to discover they don't use this practice. I'm extremely disappointed at the lengths I've had to go through to get support from Bloomingdale's and would not recommend this shopping solution to anyone, regardless of your need for last minute shopping support. My company will no longer purchase from Bloomingdale's to gift our clients and employees. Once the police investigation is complete, I will follow up with my experience in effort to help ensure no one else has to experience awful journey. In short, Bloomingdale's has completely failed at protecting their customers utilizing this service and needs to be scrutinized and investigated for lack of protection. P.S I've been on hold for over an hour to speak about escalating this issue to the "Finance Department" and after 65 minutes, they directed me to their automated...
Read moreMy visit to Bloomingdale's in Manhattan on May 1st, 2025, was a quintessential New York shopping experience. The store is massive and offers a wide array of high-end goods, from designer clothing and accessories to home goods and cosmetics. The displays were beautiful, and the staff I encountered were generally helpful and attentive. The atmosphere felt upscale and a bit glamorous, which is what you'd expect from Bloomingdale's. However, navigating such a large department store can be a bit overwhelming. My main quest, aside from browsing, was to find a public restroom without having to make a purchase. This can sometimes be a tricky endeavor in Manhattan! Based on my experience and some prior knowledge, here's where you're most likely to find a free public toilet within Bloomingdale's 59th Street flagship store: Lower Level (Basement): There are typically restrooms located on the lower level, often near the home goods or men's department. These tend to be less crowded than those on the main floors. Third Floor: You can usually find a set of restrooms on the third floor, which houses some of the women's apparel and shoe departments. Fifth Floor: Another reliable option is the restrooms on the fifth floor, which often serves the more upscale designer collections. While these are the most likely locations, it's always a good idea to look for store directories or ask a staff member to confirm the nearest restroom. Department store layouts can sometimes change. Regarding the weather on May 1st, 2025: Based on the typical early May weather in New York City, it was likely a pleasant spring day. You could expect sunshine, possibly some scattered clouds, and comfortable temperatures probably ranging from the mid-50s to low 70s Fahrenheit (around 13-22°C). It's usually a lovely time to be out and about in the city. Overall, Bloomingdale's is a landmark shopping destination worth visiting for its selection and atmosphere. Knowing where to find the restrooms beforehand can certainly make your visit more...
