IAIA | Institute of Arab and Islamic Art — Attraction in New York

Happened upon this place as they were setting up for Ali Asfour’s opening later that day. We were warmly invited in by the owner. I have never been so warmly received in a gallery in my life - no pretentiousness whatsoever. The exhibit was truly breathtaking and so moving. The exhibit by Nabil Kanso in the back elicited so much emotion especially given the fact that the works were created so long ago and yet could reflect present day so accurately. The level of execution of IAIA’s exhibition is outstanding, very well-researched. What I love about this space is how many students are continually passing through, the founder of the space is usually present and happy to speak to anyone who comes through.
