I’m normally fine with this store. Prices are the standard new york ridiculous, I only go there for a few things. Yesterday I wanted olive oil. I scraped the racks for the one I wanted, I checked the backs of like 10 bottles, they were pricey but I was willing to spend a little more for the right bottle. I settled on a ~$24 bottle. At the checkout it rang up for $28, I said the price was wrong, my cashier went to go check and saw that the price tag right under my bottle was the wrong label, and said she needed a manager, and then the manager came, saw the same thing, and then neither of them were willing to give me the oil for the price it was marked as. Like is that not a standard store policy? They’re gonna remove a product they can all see that they mislabeled from my cart over $4?? If Morton Williams makes a mistake, if they price the item wrong, and then a customer has to be publicly embarrassed and ends up holding up the line waiting, frankly, for y’all to figure out y’alls business, they are supposed to honor the price and fix the mistake. They did neither!! They literally did neither. I felt so hurt, I went back in to take a picture for this review after checking out, and the prices were still inaccurately listed. And the oil I got I couldn’t even look at closely because I felt like I needed to just wrap up my little scene, but I wish they hadn’t made me feel like an idiot for asking them to honor the price, and I still can’t believe they didn’t.
I like the employees at that location, they are friendly, I’ve seen them a bunch of times, it’s hard for me to reconcile this experience with my normally positive feelings towards them and their store. I think I’m done shopping there unless they: A) give me the olive oil I deserve ✨(I’d update the review if they did) Or B) start stocking the columela sherry vinegar that’s not reserva again (they’ve been out of it for a while) And then that’s only because that’s a product I know the price of.
Honoring the prices you put on your products is about customer trust. And about not embarrassing your...
