SculptureCenter — Attraction in New York

LOVE THIS ART SPACE. Every exhibition I have seen here over the last several years has been excellent. It amazes me that not more people visit - or are even aware of it. Also, very easy to reach by subway from Manhattan - and it's FREE to enter. Currently there are 3 shows on view. ASMA: Ideal Space for Music is in the downstairs space and recently opened. A true hidden gem with a marvelous "great hall". Puts Queens on the cultural map together with MoMA PS1 and the Noguchi Museum. I enjoyed the exhibition by Berlin-based Henrike Naumann. SculptureCenter is a gallery center for sculpture artists and free to visit! High ceilings, raw beams and brick walls give the space an open, industrial feel. There's a basement space that's quite striking and a small outdoor patio with a few benches, gravel and cement walls that open to the sky, giving a view of the LIC skyline. Very cool spot!
