I’ve been going to Jovid for five years—even followed him from his former location to his own shop. I’ve been a loyal client, coming twice a month, tipping 20%, and even recommending him to others and posting about his work on social media. I genuinely think he’s a talented barber and a good person.
Unfortunately, during my last visit, I asked for a “1” on the sides, and he mistakenly gave me a “0.5.” I was a bit upset—not dramatic, not rude—just concerned, especially with a big event the next day. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, he turned my chair away from the mirror and continued cutting. When I finally saw it, it looked like a mullet. I calmly told him I wasn’t happy and asked him to fix it. He did, and it ended up looking good. I still tipped (just slightly less than usual), thanked him, and left.

Read moreI've tried many barbers in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn and nobody comes close to Jovid. Even as I have moved around the city I always make the trip back to his shop because he is a great guy and really talented professional.
Maybe you have a very specific hairstyle and beard trim in mind -- Jovid will execute it to perfection.

The vibe of the shop is super chill as well. I promise, even if you are the kind of person that always puts off getting a haircut because it's a chore you will have a great experience at...
Read moreBefore I found Jovid in 2018, it was a real struggle to find a good barber. I have a widow’s peak, and most barbers just cut hair the same way for everyone, without considering individual features. Jovid was the first to really pay attention to detail and tailor the haircut to suit my hairline and face shape. When he moved from Bed-Stuy to open his new shop at 248 Briggs, I followed him without hesitation. Now I get my haircuts from his coworker Arthur, who is just as precise and talented. Both Jovid and Arthur are incredibly detail-oriented and consistently deliver amazing results. After 7 years as a client, I can confidently say this is the best barber experience...
