Uni K Wax Studio | Bay Ridge — Attraction in New York

Shared feedback about my experience privately and requested to speak with a manager for a resolution. It's been 5 days and I never heard back, which leads me to believe that the person who responds to the negative reviews offering them "to make it right" does it just for show.

I had the worst waxing experience with Paula, who was more focused on complaining about her job than listening to what I asked for. I had originally booked a Brazilian and changed my mind when I got into the room. I showed her a picture on the website and asked for a Deep Bikini instead. She acknowledged what I said, but in the middle of complaining about her long hours working open to close and commuting 3 hours each day, she ended up putting wax over the entire area. I told her she had agreed to give me a Deep Bikini instead and she tried to justify her mistake by saying "I thought this was what you wanted!"

She was also negligent in her duties. She did not offer me a wet wipe or powder the area prior to the wax. She also did not pull the skin taut to minimize pain. She really was more focused on complaining about her job than doing her actual job.

At the end of the day, it's hair and it'll grow back, but the experience and how it was subsequently handled left a bad taste...

Well, I’m going to start by saying that I was hesitant to try waxing and I said F’ it and went through with it. What an experience I will say. When I walked in I was greeted by a welcoming receptionist who was friendly and helped me feel comfortable as it was my first time. The environment was nice and clean and I was taken care of immediately, as a walk-in. I went in for a full commando wax. They gave me privacy while changing and a body cover for my intimate area. She explained to me what was going to happen. Gloves were used and the pot of wax was fresh (because it’s one pot per guest I was told). When my wax was complete they offered me an ice pack which I couldn’t refuse lol. They also let me take my time in the room until I was ready to go. Throughout my wax they applied corn starch to help with sensitivity and reapplication of the wax. The receptionist was the first and last face I saw and she was pleasant, same as the waxers. Seems like their own little community in UNI K WAX! I will definitely be returning for more services.

This is my second time at this wax center. I saw Janet for times because she seemed to have the best reviews of the staff. The first time I went, Janet did a decent job on my brows although I thought they were uneven. She also waxed my lip without me asking for it we were talking about waxing and before I knew it, the wax was on my lip. Obviously, at that point, I couldn’t ask her to stop anyway I told the front desk what happened that she misheard me and went ahead and waxed my lip and then she got upset and said that I asked for it when I clearly never did. I still gave her a tip. I went back today and Janet did my eyebrows again. Entirely uneven, one square one is round, one is thinner than the other, one is shorter than the other, and I lost the shape of my eyebrows. I’m not even mad about the brow so much they’ll grow back, but what’s so annoying is that Janet doesn’t take any accountability for anything every time I’m like wait why are my eyebrows shorter than what they were before or why is the shape, so different from what it looks like when I came in and she rebuttals everything that I say.
