I had never sold any items here before so I called before visiting the store. I was told on Black Friday that they were not accepting items until Monday. I decided to call back on Sunday to verify a time for Monday and was told that the information I received was not accurate. Although I was told this, the young lady made it clear that they had a lot to do already and I could bring in the items but she could not promise to get to them any time soon.
Upon arrival, the young lady at the counter was not pleasant and barely spoke to me. I should have left right away but I thought maybe she was just having a bad day. I also stayed because I am an advocate who helps families find resources and inexpensive places to shop so I wanted to make sure it was a good place to send families who needed a break. Plus, I had planned on selling the items and giving the money to a family towards Christmas gifts.
Upon return I had to wait in line for a long time as four other young ladies stood behind the counter making eye contact with me while gossiping and complaining while one other young lady was working the register alone. It appeared that they did not want to be there and did not want to deal with the work load they had in front of them. I was offered $4 for a few items that were purchased a long time ago, and was told that my other items (clothes that were purchased within the last 6 months) were older than 2019. Although they were never worn, I had washed, ironed, and folded neatly the newer polo shirts, new jeans, jackets, and other items that were the latest fashion with some tags still on them. I did not make a fuss but decided to take the clothes somewhere else and donate them along with my other donations.
I hope the owner soon recognizes how important the first faces seen when you walk in and the first impressions have not been positive for some of us. I had heard how unwelcoming and inconsistent the store is and had read some not so positive reviews, but decided to form my own opinion. I will never recommend this store to people who use the organization I work with, I will not recommend the store to families I know could use a break but will not feel less important if they visit, nor will I visit this store again. I'm sure this does not matter to them because after all, what is a few less customers to them who they did not want to deal with in the...
Read moreBEWARE!!!! I thought this was a great store and enjoyed shopping here for my kids, but never again. It seems that depending on who you speak to or who is there depends on what the store policies are. Prime example: It is their policy to post items on their Facebook page and have people comment hold if they would like them. Typically they hold them for what usually is a 24 hour period, at which time they go to the next person in line. Last night I commented on an item that I wanted asking to be next in line if the person that commented first did not pick it up or changed her mind. Nothing was heard all day and I went to a doctor appointment in Sandy Springs which was over at 4:30. I sat on the freeway in traffic for 2 hours. As soon as I got home, I pulled in my driveway and took my phone out as I was going in. It seems almost two hours ago that someone from Once Upon a Child commented on the post telling me I was next in line they could hold them until 4pm tomorrow for me. Being on the freeway, I could not respond and an hour later they posted another comment giving me only an hour to respond or they would give the item to the next person, which they proceeded to do since I hadn't even had a chance to see the comment yet. I immediately called the store and was told by the associate that yes, while this was not typically their protocol, the manager had decided to try something new because she claimed there was so much demand for the item. Only 3 people had commented on the item, and I was one of the 3. I then questioned why they had not posted their "new policy" on Facebook and in the store before implementing it. For that the employee had no response. This is extremely poor customer service. Please beware when purchasing items these girls do what they want and their policies change both daily and minute to minute. I'd hate for another parent to have a disappointed child because of something like this. Will not be...
Read moreWe decided to try to sell our clothes here and were very pleased with our experience. The ladies were helpful in explaining what items could be accepted and which ones could not be accepted. It helps us to know in the future so that we do not waste our time or theirs. I really appreciate how fast they are considering how many boxes and bags of clothing that are given to them everyday to go through (we have been back a few times since our first visit). I was looking at all they had to go through one day and it looked overwhelming, the entire area behind the register was filled with bags, overflowing boxes and plastic totes from customers who wanted to have their clothes looked at in hopes of being purchased ( I would cry if I had to clean out a home with all those clothes and continually be interrupted because of other needs that have to be taken care of and it happen every day of the week). I would also like to mention the responsibility they have to take care of ringing up customers, putting clothing into the system, tagging the clothes, hanging up the clothes, texting people when their clothes are ready and hoping there are no glitches in the software, answering the phones, cleaning up the toys that the parents let their children play with while they shop, listen to the screaming children, dodge the children that run around the store, picking up clothes off the floor that children or parents knocked off the rack and whatever else happens throughout the day. I think they are doing a great job considering all that is required to make an establishment like this operate as smoothly as possible. Since it's retail there is usually allot of employee turn-around, which means that operations are halted to some degree for training of new employees. I remember my own jobs in retail and so from what I have seen I think these ladies are doing a great job and I say,...
