We walked to the Corner Corner and were told it would be a 45 minute wait there. Okay, not waiting 45 minutes for breakfast, so we'll go to this place next door called the Hungry Monkey! As soon as we walked in, we should have known we were in for trouble. The hostess was helping bus tables and would come back to the hostess stand to make a phone call and then walk away again. We were standing at the hostess stand for probably 5 minutes and she never once acknowledged our existence. We finally asked another waitress if we could just sit at the counter.
After sitting at the counter, it took them 20 minutes (!) to bring us menus. We had found the menu online and told them we did not need physical menus and were ready to order. We ordered one hot coffee, one iced coffee, a pumpkin muffin, a side of bacon, and a California Benedict. It took them 10+ minutes just to bring us our coffees. We then waited 45 or so minutes for our food to come out, with no attention from the wait staff to refill our coffees or ask if we needed anything else. When we received the food, the muffin and bacon were fine, but the hollandaise sauce on the Benedict was curdled and the potatoes were undercooked.
I am sympathetic to staffing shortages at restaurants. I understand that these are hard times. However, waiting over an hour for food without being told to expect to wait that long, without an apology, and without any attention from the staff is unacceptable. We would have been happy with the mediocre food if it had been delivered quickly. Overall, we had a very annoying and disappointing experience and wished we had just waited the 45 minutes to be seated at the...
Read moreI read the reviews prior to our visit saying how they were too short staffed and made for a bad experience and I thought that people were being too harsh and that if the food is good, it would be worth a little longer wait times. But, I wish I listened!
At first it was fine, the waitress was nice and told us she was short staffed and that it would be a long time for her to come get our order because she was the only one working. Then after waiting a few minutes for her to come over and take our drink order we realized there were only 4 tables seated which shouldn’t be too much for one waitress. She finally came over and took our order and got our drinks, forgot our cream for coffee and then didn’t come by with it til after the ice in the iced coffee melted (we would have tried to remind her, but she wasn’t ever within talking distance) then our food came out late and the eggs were hard boiled instead of poached. (One thing I will say was they were quick with getting new eggs for us that’s why they get 2 stars) they forgot my side of home fries, the stuffed French toast was dry, our regular toast wasn’t even toasted, and it took over 20 mins for her to come give us our check after we asked for the bill. I have been to a lot of short staffed restaurants and still had a good meal, this was not the case here...
Read moreIt came highly recommended and we're BRUNCH PEOPLE so we were excited. Everything thing seemingly going well until the food arrived and the first thing my daughter noticed was a hair in her potatoes. Hoping she was mistaken, two others looked and confirmed it was a hair. Trying to keep the good vibes going, we all looked through our food, didn't see anything else suspicious, prayed and began to eat. If you dine out enough, you understand things can happen. But apparently, don't ask the server for straws. Several of us did, but not all at once. She became IRATE and threw about a dozen more straws than asked for on our table. BEYOND RUDE. My husband politely took them to the counter telling her we don't need all these.
That act of civility seemed to have brought her temperature down and she was normal for the rest of our meal. But the fact that asking for straws puts you over the edge was highly unnecessary. No one wants angry people serving their food. No trust in that relationship. Therefore, we will never go back.
As we were leaving, we watched another couple come in and sit there for a while apparently not be...
