Good value for money, but a little unreliable and quite time consuming.
First of all, the price is excellent. $2 per day for unlimited travel to 38 stops along the full length of International Drive, is wonderful value. It's even cheaper if you purchase passes for 3,5,7 and 14 days. This price is especially good for this area since pretty much every other business happily fleeces the tourists.
The problem is that although the Trolley is cheap, it's not very reliable, it's quite time consuming and rather uncomfortable.
The service is very intermittent as there doesn't appear to be any specific timetable or schedule. Sometimes you'll be wait just a few minutes then at other times you can wait half an hour. This is frustrating and clearly a lack of management as you'll often see two Trolleys leapfrog one another as they become compressed on the same route.
If you're planning on passing Stops 28 (SeaWorld) and 29 (Aquatica), on your journey, then I strongly recommend that you avoid doing so between 1700-1900 hours. There's major jams between these times as both parks begin to empty. The Trolley still needs to enter each car park, and this can easily add another 15-20 minutes to the journey. Sometimes, the driver will actually avoid entering Stops 28 and 29, which is great for the folks onboard, but obviously not so good for the folks waiting at those stops.
There's also frequent driver swaps. Most services I've used tend to do this on the route, but I-Ride divert the Trolley to another area and it usually takes 5 - 10 minutes for them to swap the drivers. This is yet another delay.
The Trolley seats are very uncomfortable. They're made from hard wood, which is fine for a short journey, but after 20 minutes or so, it really starts to hurt the legs, bum and back.
Overall, if you're not in a rush and you want to control costs, the Trolley is a decent...
Read moreWe missed our stop on the red line on International Blvd.. Honestly we didn't know it was our stop so when we got to the end of the route we were a bit confused but not really phased by it. It's vacation and there is no place to be at any particular time.
That is until our driver chuckled and began patronizing us. Then radioed to a different driver and I heard her say "No, I am not kidding." Then told us we should cross and wait for the driver going in the opposite direction.
She was even worse! I was so offended by her rude comments and patronizing that i told her so. Her response?? "I hope you get over it" Again missing the stop wasn't big deal but our treatment (daughter and I) was. When we got off my daughter told me she would rather walk to hell and back than ride an itrolley ever again. SO three days worth of passes for both of us down the tubes for one ride that was HORRRIBLE. I was so angry and humiliated. She never apologized for being a jerk only said "I am sorry you are upset"
Walking isn't really that...
Read moreNever used i-ride trolley before. Went to catch i-ride North at G6, family of 4 with youngest being 4. On 08/13/23 at 3.45pm went to board the i-ride when driver stated no drinks allowed, so we put all drinks in the bin, as the family boarded with the buggy and my 4yr old, i went to pay with card, but driver stated cash only and ejected us all. As I say this was our first encounter with using public transport and so wasn't aware of cash only payment. The thing that wound me up was the fact it was 35° outside and just been made to throw our waters away and had none for the young one and now had a 2 mile walk back. When I drove buses it was the drivers discretion whether to let customers board or not, but going off the circumstances of not being from the USA as the accent clearly shows and having a young child, using my own initiative would of let the family board and the customers aware of the cash only policy for future reference. Wouldn't mind but the driver didn't even apologise, what happened to modern...
