Seven weekends of Magical Dining Month. Seven restaurants chosen for amazing menu effort. Too many restaurants phone it in for MDM and offer chicken (boring) or a cedar-plank salmon (yawn). Out of literally hundreds of restaurants, you have to stand out somehow. I ranked all the restaurants, and sought out the best of the best.
Boi Brazil was one of the best of the best. Obviously, it's a little different, with the salad bar, the meat, and the desserts, but still, the way it was presented, and the fact that I haven't been to a Brazilian steakhouse in years, meant that this place made my top seven. So I made my reservations, showed up on time, and got seated immediately.
I was instantly bombarded by the meat guachos. Offers left and right, flank steak, garlic steak, bacon-wrapped chicken, barbecue chicken, the picanha, everything you can imagine. There's a sense of overwhelming to it at first, but don't fret, just collect your meat, collect your thoughts, and divide and conquer.
The salad bar. You obviously don't want to fill up here. Skip the salad, grab very few fun items, like the mushrooms and the mozz balls, and visit the hot bar for some meat accompaniments, like rice and beans, maybe a roll. After your one visit to the bar, grab another big plate and bring it back to the table so you can have a good work surface for your meat.
If you look at the MDM menu, it names dozens of meat options, but you'll notice that a few of them are the ones you see most often, like the flank steak, the chickens, etc. The premium options don't rotate as often, for obvious reasons, so don't be afraid to keep saying no thank you and waiting for the good stuff. I even had to special request the beef ribs come to me. Don't be afraid of that either.
Overall, the best meats I remember were the picanha, the rarer the better, the parmesan pork was amazing, the Brazilian sausage was delicious, had a good snap to it, the barbecue chicken was scrumptious, and as long as you get it medium rare, the lamb was wonderful, too. So aim for these meats.
After you get your fill of the meats, take your time, you get to the desserts. The Flan (A blend of condensed milk, milk, eggs and caramel) and the New York Style Cheesecake (America original cheesecake served with a strawberry topping) were both a-ok, and you will be craving something sweet at the end of all this umami.
Overall, I'm so happy that I got into a Brazilian steakhouse again after so many years away. And I'm so happy they participate in MDM. I hope they get a lot of new traffic and a lot of new, loyal customers. Thanks for the great meal,...
Read moreThis place is over priced, looks like an old asian restaurant, and has horrible service. The owner herself is rude, unprofessional, and completely unmannerly. I made reservations for my husband, myself, and father in- law for Father’s Day. She marked my reservations and I asked if I could bring my service dog who is registered, licensed, and whose identification I always have on me. She continued to say that it was perfectly fine, and service animals were welcome. Upon arrival, she denied my family and I seating due to our dog so is a certified support animal, and she continued to go on about the fact he did not have a vest on. Even with showing her his license, and paper work, she continued to deny us service after driving 45 minutes just to get to this restaurant she had promised us a table at. This was so saddening, frustrating, and her manner of speaking to costumers, and the way the place is operated is completely repulsive. Not only did she speak to my family on Father’s Day in a demeaning, harsh toned, ignorant way, but she was insensitive and uneducated as she continued to talk over us and was even unwilling to look over our dogs paperwork and license card. What a shock, and what a horrible way to manage. Here’s a tip: if you are close by, change direction and head to Tonys Brazilian, it’s a mile away, the price is a quarter of what Boi Brazil charges, they allow service animals of any size, have a way more modern space, and have the nicest, most compassionate staff there is. Don’t make the mistake of giving Boi Brazil business, they truly...
Read morePlentyful, varied yet unexceptional flavors, and somewhat overpriced fare... Having enjoyed a broad sampling of Brazilian, Portuguese, Argentinian and Chilean grilling styles both here and abroad, I try to find smaller non chain food venues. BoiBrazil seemed to have the right mix of local, well patronaged of what seemed to be frequent customers and rated favorably on social media. Side dish selection was reasonable, as well as meat cuts variety, sausage with poultry presented both wrapped in bacon or naked with skin. All food presented by the staff was well cooked, at various temperatures for beef, thoroughly cooked chicken and pork still juicy and crispy skin. As for taste, most meats lacked seasoning (I know many only salt rodizio / chrrasqueria cuts, and I enjoy that as well, I am not a pepper or spicy heat flavors) yet even the black beans lacked a wow I'm going for seconds, and many of the cuts served remained on the dish of all on our table. It was not an overwhelmed or saturated customer presence, and there seemed to be sufficient staff on duty. Service was attentive, courteous yet required several signaling to come to not just our table but others as well, and getting our dessert and check took a bit longer than it should. In closing, not a place that I'll save on my favorites, it has its established clientele, and it is fine if quantity of food is higher in your priorities than flavor and quality. Maybe in this game the big chain names in the rodizio competition could be a...
