I never really take the time to leave a review, but I visited Kingdom Sushi a couple of nights ago, and this had to be one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a very long time. Went in an hour and a half before closing wanting to do the “all you can eat” as their website advertises high quality sushi. I was dining alone, and told the hostess I wouldn’t mind sitting at the bar, but she insisted on seating me at a table. I was then sat in the middle of the restaurant, and the atmosphere just felt like you were eating in a mall food court. Tables were cramped and it was ridiculously loud. My server was very nice at first and told me about the “premium all you can eat” so I went with that option. Started out by ordering a passion fruit sake cocktail, a couple of appetizers, miso soup, and two sushi rolls. After I ordered, it felt as if I had been completely forgotten about. Appetizers arrived after about ten minutes, miso soup arrived after thirty, and my two rolls came after forty. For this being an “all you can eat” the wait times were long and portions were small. When my sushi finally arrived, it was a complete disappointment. The rice was mushy and the avocado wasn’t ripe. Not to mention, my cocktail was basically just passion fruit juice, which I ended up just ordering juice afterwards. So much time was wasted on just waiting for food, that I was only able to put in another order right at 10:45 for last call. The manager took my last order, and I wanted to try two different rolls (one without cream cheese), but she said we couldn’t make any changes to the food in the all you can eat. Why?? If you’re making fresh sushi, why can’t the cream cheese be taken out? Also ordered some salmon nigiri, which came out with a ton of oil, salt, and wasabi on top, and it was just gross. At this point, I lost my appetite and asked for the check, which the manager also came to cash me out. The total for the premium all you can eat, one cocktail, and a juice, was $75. She asked me if I enjoyed everything and I just said “Not really, I usually go to Sushi Yama across the street though”. To which she responded “Oh well, this is Brazilian sushi” Lol your website advertises this as authentic Japanese sushi, so at this point I’m confused and frustrated that I had to pay $85 (Left a $10 tip, because I felt bad for the first server that took my order) and genuinely could have had a better experience eating in a McDonald’s parking lot. Sorry for the lengthy review, but this experience was just absolutely awful, and had no redeeming...
Read moreAll you can eat sushi? More like all your can SPEAK. Turns out this is a mix of “Japanese” and Brazilian, yet there was three giant Chinese money toad statues, so they clearly can not pick a culture. It was very loud inside and packed with people. As soon as we sat down this lady asked us what we wanted to order as if we even got the chance to look at the 2 menus they gave us (and we were a group of 4). We ordered a strawberry lemonade which was unique since it wasn’t super sweet so that was nice, but super pulpy due to the whole lime they sliced up and threw in the drink. Each sip was a mouthful of fun strawberry acidity. The all you can eat menu is a little limited but there’s definitely some interesting options. We tried lots of rolls and even raw fish and sashimi. One roll we received had guava jelly on it, and they even gave us 3 servings of a strange roll that we only ordered once. If you’re gonna force us to eat your rolls you might as well pick a good one. Atmosphere was insanely loud, even noise canceling headphones weren’t enough to tune the sound out. Our server must’ve forgotten their job because someone from our table had to go and grab soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger themself. Allegedly the chef had 5 years of culinary education, I’m not very sure where he learned or what they even taught him but it sure was something. Dessert was mostly Nutella filled things which isn’t even Japanese. And everything else was mostly fried or had cream cheese. The ice cream sandwich (which had Nutella) was the most mediocre thing of all. Even that’s still an understatement. The vanilla ice cream hardly had flavor if at all, and the cookies looked like chips ahoy cookies which weren’t even soft. There were Nutella rolls, which were just Nutella spring rolls. Great place for your picky eater child to get dessert. They have the lights on a dark blue, probably so you don’t see what you’re ordering because what was THAT. Everything had fancy names, they couldn’t even simply say sesame seeds. Practically had to learn Japanese, Portuguese, and new forms of Spanish in one night. I was unaware my dining experience would be a learning one too. And if you ever had dreamed of ordering ceviche at a sushi place, now you can fulfill your...
Read moreI was absolutely baited by the fact that this place has 10k+ reviews so I had to find out if it was worth the hype. Spoiler alert- it wasn’t.
SEATING- We were seated rather quickly without a reservation on a Thursday night and the foot traffic was starting to pick up. The bartender took our initial order until our waitress was available.
“AYCE”?- So only a small percentage of the overall menu is AYCE. I’d say a third. So while you can get a bunch of stuff on that side of the menu, the premium items are on the other side and come at an additional cost. That was the first shock. I have to keep in mind that true AYCE is a Las Vegas thing and isn’t common in other cities.
FOOD- The fish cuts were actually delicious. Some of the best cuts I’ve ever had. The presentation was fun and I actually enjoyed taking my time with each piece. I will say that it was incredibly difficult to find things WITHOUT cream cheese. Zero clue what that’s about but EVERYTHING is slathered with cream cheese. I think it’s because this is like, Brazilian fusion? Unsure.
SERVICE- This was unfortunately where KS took the biggest hit. It took us 2 hours to order 2 rounds of items because our waitress would make multiple rounds to other tables nearby but not to us and one other table next to us. We realized that if you spoke Spanish, your service experience was much better and more consistent. We had to ask for a water refill twice and after what seemed like 15-20 minutes after the second request we got room temp water that had been sitting out. We reminded our waitress about an order 3 times during the 2 hours and only got it towards the very end and then got ANOTHER one on top of that because she may have just put in another order on top of the original? After waiting another 30 minutes, the fastest items we got were our desserts and the check.
Definitely not convinced the 10k+ 5 star reviews for this place are all legitimate. If you look them up on yelp they are only 3.5 stars.
If you do come here for good fish, don’t come during...
