Overall, the rooms itself were quite good - even though they were much older-looking than on the pictures of the hotel, they were clean, everything that is needed was there and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was ok, just enough, but also nothing to remember. However, the reception staff was quite incompetent, didn't seem to care and appeared rude: We came in early in the morning, just to drop a bag off and to meet some friends who were already staying there. First, the receptionist wasn't welcoming at all, she let us feel as if we were bothering and annoying her, thus being rather unhelpful when I asked about the bag deposit. At last, when we were leaving with our friends about 45 minutes later, the bag was still at the same place I deposited it, with no one of the reception watching or stowing it away, leading to me taking it with me again, as I lost all trust in the receptionist and anticipated that the bag is more likely to be stolen than to be deposited properly as promised. Second, when our friends arrived, we asked if she could possibly make a note so that when we can check in later that same day, we have a room close to our friends (they saw several people leaving that morning). Again, with a very unfriendly attitude and a complete lack of friendliness, she told us that she made a note and that the evening receptionist would take care of it. However, in the evening when we wanted to check in and I told the evening receptionist about the earlier note, she told us that there was no remark, no note, nothing. Therefore, the morning receptionist lied in our face on top of all. Last, after a few problems with the electronic key cards (which didn't really matter as the entrance door to our housing unit seemed to have been broken into but never fixed, leading to it only being able to be opened from the inside), we got locked out of our room the next morning right before checkout. When we went back to the reception (with the same morning receptionist), she again greeted us with no sign of friendliness, care or motivation whatsoever and then proceeded to blame us for the key cards that don't work. She made us look stupid and was actually quite rude, even though it can't have possibly been our fault (we've stayed in plenty of hotels and never had a problem with the key cards no matter where we stored them, whether it was in the wallet, in a card holder or just in the pant pocket). In conclusion, the hotel rooms themselves and the cleanliness were good, however the receptionist was rude, incompetent and unhelpful...
Read moreI recently had the misfortune of staying at the La Quinta Inn near Universal Studios in Orlando, and I can confidently say it was the most dismal hotel experience I've encountered in all my travels. From the moment I stepped into the room, I was greeted by an ambiance of despair. The entire place reeked of neglect and indifference.
Let's start with the room itself – dingy and dated would be an understatement. The sheets and towels, while clean, did little to offset the overall shabbiness. The closet doors, apparently refusing to acknowledge their purpose, were dysfunctional, adding an extra layer of frustration to the dismal atmosphere. The mattresses were a testament to the hotel's dedication to discomfort; old, saggy, and utterly incapable of providing any semblance of back support.
As if the room wasn't bad enough, the bathroom was a horror show. The glazing in the tub had undergone some kind of grotesque metamorphosis, leaving behind a bottom surface that revealed the exposed, deteriorating material. It was a visual assault that made any thoughts of relaxation vanish instantly. And lets mention all the faucets were leaking.
The pièce de résistance, however, was the musty smell that enveloped the room like a sinister cloud. We arrived on a rainy Saturday, and the stench of mold and mildew was so thick that it practically burned our nostrils. Even when the rain ceased by Monday, the odor persisted with only minimal dissipation. The relentless musty smell clung to our clothes, penetrating every fiber, and no amount of washing upon our return could rid them of the foul aroma. This olfactory nightmare seemed to have infiltrated the entire property, making me question the sanity of anyone giving this establishment even a single star.
In a twist of irony, the breakfast was a beacon of mediocrity amidst the wreckage. While the staff displayed a facade of niceness, the hot eggs, sausage, and make-your-own-waffles could not salvage the overall disaster that was our stay.
I would never subject myself to the horror of this La Quinta Inn again, and the ordeal has left such a bitter taste that I might reconsider ever returning to Orlando. This was just one of many disappointments during our trip, and the La Quinta experience was a resounding reminder of the importance of thorough research before booking any accommodations. Save yourself the misery and steer clear of this...
Read moreMy wife and I recently stayed at this hotel during the first leg of our honeymoon in Orlando. We chose it primarily for the decent pricing and the promise of free shuttles to both Disney and Universal parks. After reading a mix of reviews, we were cautiously optimistic about our choice. First Impressions: Upon arrival, our initial excitement quickly dampened. The hotel felt more like a condo than a hotel, and the lobby area was under construction, which contributed to a disorganized atmosphere. The entrance to the lobby was at the far end of the reception area, making it inconvenient to access. Room Conditions: From the moment we stepped inside, we were met with an unpleasant musty odor that lingered throughout the hotel and remained in our room. The interior appeared outdated, with many bathroom accessories showing signs of rust. To our dismay, we discovered a dead cockroach upon entering, and the carpet was filthy—our socks turned black just from walking across it. Even barefoot, the carpet felt damp and unclean. Pest Issues: Unfortunately, our experience with pests didn’t end there. During our stay, we encountered two live cockroaches. Cleaning and Amenities: We were also surprised to find that room cleaning was minimal; over a week’s stay, our room was cleaned only twice. The breakfast, advertised as continental, was lackluster—consisting only of some bread, waffles, scrambled eggs, and yogurt, with no cheese or cold cuts available. Shuttle Service: While the hotel did offer free shuttles, we soon realized that they only serviced Disney Epcot and Universal Studios Park, with limited schedules—one in the morning and one return trip just before closing time. This made it challenging to fully take advantage of the parks' offerings; we often resorted to using Lyft for more convenient transportation.
Despite bringing all of the above to the attention of the reception upon our arrival, we received no assistance or resolution, which was incredibly disappointing.
Overall Experience: Given the unpleasant conditions, pest issues, and inadequate services, I cannot recommend this hotel for a pleasant stay. Our honeymoon was marred by these inconveniences, and I would advise couples or anyone looking for a comfortable hotel experience to consider...
