Generally, when people are happy and comfortable you see the smiles on their faces. This was the case at this particular Hampton Inn. My cousin booked this hotel for us on a recent quick, last-minute visit we made to Orlando. I ended up going to the wrong Hampton Inn at first and was not happy with the front desk service and when we realized we were at the wrong hotel I was relieved.
When we arrived at the correct hotel (late, 3:00 a.m. late) the young lady at the front desk had a smile on her face and was so courteous. I was not expecting that since we had just had a bad experience at the prior hotel's front desk. Her easygoing attitude put me at ease and I was extremely happy to be there and get our room without any issues to quickly head upstairs and get some very needed sleep. The next morning we woke up to find a very clean atmosphere. The bathroom was well equipped with towels, and all the toiletries are conveniently hanging on the wall (full) so there's no running out of shampoo, conditioner, body gel, or cream. Plus their toiletries are top-notch, they smell good, and the cream...I wish I would have asked if they sell it. I would have definitely bought some to take home. We quickly rushed downstairs to find the breakfast area packed and a little tight but we did find seating on the high table. Again, when you see people smiling you know you're in the right place. We had a great conversation with a family that sat across from us and enjoyed a great breakfast. There weren't a lot of hot options but there was plenty of toast, make-your-own-waffles station, muffins, cereal, fruits, yogurt, etc. Hot items were the usual contemporary breakfast items (eggs, bacon, and potatoes).
The room has a small fridge, coffee pot, TV, lamps, USB charging station, and outlet on the front of the night table by the bed. Very convenient!! The beds were comfortable which is a must when staying away from home. Oh let me not forget the conveniently added second sink with a mirror and plenty of space to put on your make-up right outside the bathroom area. The only thing was that the outlet there didn't work so to do your hair you have to use the sink/counter inside the bathroom. Small issue to have when everything else was so wonderful. The beds were made without us having to ask for them to make them. Which for some reason nowadays if you're not staying longer than a day or two the hotel service won't turn up your beds unless requested. They also left clean fresh towels. I would have been fine using the same towel twice but it was nice of them to change the towels. We didn't use the pool but did check it out and it looked enjoyable. A few guests were hanging out by the pool.
What else can I say? This place was great!! Oh and very conveniently located to the nightlife of Orlando, restaurants, sightseeing, and practically walking distance from our corporate...
Read moreWe decided to go a little cheaper than usual for the hotel room during our visit to Universal Studios. We weren't planning to spend much time at the hotel, so no need to break the bank on a luxury resort. I was very disappointed. The room had many problems. I didn't bring them up to management initially as we were all exhausted from travel, and once I was rested, we left and spent most of our time away from the hotel. I have stayed at Hampton Inn before in other states, so I already had an expectation of their room quality, fair - but not horrible. This hotel clearly falls under the horrible category.
The room had many problems - leaky faucets, a shower that is more like a dripping faucet, furniture that doesn't match the rest of the room, furniture that is falling apart, lamps that are in disrepair and hanging by their power cord. The bathroom was so small, that you need to stand over the toilet to close the door. I even cut my leg on the frame supporting the bed.
Breakfast and Wifi were 2 amenities that we wanted to take advantage of. The Wifi seemed to work fine, but the breakfast was just plain wrong. The hotel is clearly trying to save money on breakfast by using the cheapest "food" possible. I understand powdered eggs, I've had them before and I usually consider them passable. The egg flavored jello they served here was just nasty. The sausage links and patties taste better at a fast food joint. The fresh fruit had issues too. the melon tasted like it has been marinating in pineapple juice, and the pineapple wasn't ripe. Even the coffee didn't taste good, like it had been poured through a Styrofoam strainer. I hate McDonnalds, but I would get a better tasting breakfast if I spent $5 in their drive-thru. The staff working the breakfast didn't seem happy and it showed.
At the end of our stay, we looked all over the room to ensure that we didn't leave anything accidentally under the beds, or anything that may have fallen behind nightstands. We found trash and shampoo under the bed from previous guests, and behind the nightstand, we found dried vomit.
I reported the issues we had to the front desk as we were checking out. Normally I wouldn't complain, but this had too many problems not to. I wasn't trying to get any money off our bill, but to hopefully get the issues addressed. I wrote a list for the front desk with our problems, and they assured me that the manager would call me to talk about it.
2 months later, no call
I will never consider Hampton Inn...
Read moreStayed here as part of a vacation package with Universal. Location was great, about 5 minutes away from the park and a close drive to a mainstrip of restaurants and shopping. They have free shuttle service to the park but we chose to not to use it due to the latest pick up at 8:10pm but park doesn't close til 9 or 10 on weekends and we wanted to stay late. Our room was large and clean with 2 queen beds, linens were fresh/new. The room had a small kitchenette area with coffeemaker, microwave, and minifridge which was buzzing loudly. Also a small closet with iron and board, a desk, a sitting chair, suitcase rack and tv and dresser. Bathroom was clean but tiny, only 1 person can fit. Getting in was difficult as the door was large and you had to squeeze between the toilet and sink to shut it. Luckily the room had a 2nd sink/vanity area with is real convenient. This hotel is located by a busy highway and the windows are very thin so it is noisy during heavy traffic until very late at night. 11pm and it's sounds like you're standing on the freeway. If you are looking for a quiet hotel this is not it. Also the window did not have a blackout curtain. Just sheers. There are lots of kids running around all hours which is somewhat expected if you're staying here for the parks. Free hot breakfast was good but it is a mad house if your arrive late so go early before 8 to avoid line skipping, table stealing, and pushing and general rudeness people that don't know common courtesy. My daughter and husband had bread in hand about to place them into the toaster and people literally bumped in front of them put their toast in and walk off. This happened twice. The swimming pool is larger than in the picture. And there is a hot tub but it was not working, water was bubbling but cold and there was no how water timer we could find. Would have been great to soak tired legs and feet from all the amusement park walking. So ended up soaking in the bathtub. Staff was friendly. But make sure to ask for your bonus benefits coupons because they will not mention it. This hotel comes with discounted food and drink etc coupon book. We kept forgetting to ask so we didn't...
