The atmosphere is charming and usually filled with young people. Embracing the neo 80's electro look is pretty cool with neon highlights, decorations of plants, and wallpaper that brings back the time. Though, that is only one part of the store, since most of the store is also simply white walls.
The coffee here is awesome! I would say not to get the Ethiopian cappuccino as it is really juicy and at this place, really sour for some reason. I tried every drink and found that the Ethiopian Latte was to die for right then and there. They had another darker roast, but when trying those, there were no complaints, but no praise either. Thick, creamy, foamy, and full of a chocolate-nutty taste. All in all, 3 out of four coffees sets this to be a 5 star rating! (I've never been a fan of juicier roasts, so I never dock it based on my tastes) Still, this place is not perfect.
If you want a balanced Hot Chocolate, you will not find it here. Out of all the coffee we drank, we could not dare drink the Hot Chocolate as it was immensely rich to the point of making your teeth hurt. Perhaps it was a slip of the hand, but for the future, if the owner reads this, please go easier on the chocolate. It was a tragedy not being able to drink the beverage and throw it away.
The music here is awesome. While I was there, I must have Shazam'ed about 3 times. It's a mix of indie and lofi sad music. Especially when it's hot outside, the change in atmosphere feels like a reprieve. That, along with the dimmed lights inside set the mood for a nap, or the soft glow of a laptop screen.
The staff were great and I didn't receive any looks for ordering 5 drinks. That shows understanding. They made me feel comfortable and answered a lot of my questions about how they recieve their Coffee or about the process of making it.
Come here to relax. Come here to chill. Most importantly, come here for...
Read moreI have been coming to craft and common to study for over a year now and it has always been my favorite place until today. I came on a Sunday morning with a colleague of mine to study and if you have been here, the table option with outlets is very limited. Space in general is super limited here. The small square tables are only meant for one to work comfortably at. There was an empty table that had a reserved sign on it which I have never seen before so I asked what it was for. I was informed that it was for a "regular" who comes in all of the time and if someone is sitting there this "regular" asks the customer sitting there to move. So to not have her have to ask, they started reserving it in case she came in. My colleague and I couldn't understand how that was acceptable so decided to ask an employee if we can use it until the expected customer comes in and we were told yes. Once space next to us opened up, we slid over to not have to use the reserved space anymore. Before being able to completely move over, there was an employee, with a grey/reddish beard, who wore glasses, who came over and snatched the reserved table away, slammed plates and chairs as if he was annoyed we were using the EMPTY table. A whole 45 minutes after moving, the "regular" customer comes in who is a white elderly woman and was treated like royalty being escorted to her table. To watch how me and my colleague were treated following how they treated the woman who the table was for, I will not be back. Especially the way the man with the beard treated us there is no way to feel besides that this had some racial...
Read moreI've been to Craft & Common a few times and it becomes my favorite spot in Downtown until today. The quality of the food, drinks and atmosphere still very enjoyable but there is a problem with the service from one of the staff that I feel extremely rude for those who's working in customer service industry.
First I have to apologize for bringing my old coffee cup into the shop but I've already ordered 2 new drinks and waffles, and put my old one aside to make sure that I'm not drinking the old one in this place. However, it's still unsatisfied for one of the barista (the one with the blue hair), she offered me a new cup and said I should pour my old drink into the new cup (with Craft&Common cup holder) which I think it's unnecessary because I don't want to waste another cup for no reason, so I switched to cup holder yet she's not satisfied. She came back and asked "Is it a dirty cup?" and I said "No, it's not a dirty one, you can keep it for another time." Then she threw that cup away and spoke to me with a very rude attitude that I shouldn't bring another coffee cup from another place to this shop. I totally understand what she meant, but the way she approached and reacted to a customer was not suitable to work in a service industry. Moreover, I didn't have any bad reaction to her behavior at all, so I wondered is there something wrong with her life in general? I feel sorry for her colleague as well because everybody else did such a great job. It's so unfortunate for this to happen to the place that I really...
