Had a frustrating experience with this rental. The short story: we were having trouble with the hot tub, company was very difficult to work with. We also just didn’t like the rental, and didn’t think it was worth the price we paid.
Full story: We rented from this company via Airbnb on the Canyons side of Park City. We paid more than the 6 of us would usually pay, but this rental had it’s own hot tub and a large back deck. We confirmed the hot tub would be working with the host when we booked.
When we got there we got right into the hot tub, and immediately noticed it was cooling down. The back deck was also a sheet of ice, clearly hadn’t been shoveled once all year (they left a plastic shovel). Reached out to Local, asked for troubleshooting tips on the hot tub. They had none, but said they were sending maintenance, which was great. “Thank you appreciate it, keep us posted” I said. The pointed out we could use the community hot tub, which was full.
Next day at 3 PM, I reached out, asked for an update, since we hadn’t gotten one. “We just reached out to the spa tech again, waiting on an update!”
Didn’t hear from them after that.
To be fair, the hot tub kind of worked - but only for a few minutes at a time before it started rapidly losing heat. We used it sparingly for a few days. It seemed to be a little better for those days? But the weather was warm (60 degrees) and we didn’t spend much time in there.
On the last night the weather was great, and we figured the hot tub would be fixed. Wrong — it started losing heat again minutes after we had been in.
I messaged the company again as we were checking out the next morning, asked if maintenance ever came, and they just told me they would send maintenance out again.
We could have stayed somewhere without that back deck or hot tub for cheaper, and since we didn’t get those, we asked for a partial refund.
The host then explained the Spa tech indeed did visit (we were never told as much) and noted the hot tub was in “Sleep Mode” and told us that WE must have put it in that setting (which is ridiculous, as there are only 4 buttons on the hot tub display, none of which say “Sleep mode”).
“Unfortunately we won’t be offering a refund for a working hot tub”, the host said, after accusing us of putting it sleep mode.
After effectively haggling with the host and Airbnb, we received $400 back (of the...
Read morePlace was exactly as described. We cooked a bunch and the kitchen had everything we needed. Beds were super comfortable. We had an issue with an electrical circuit and the owner/manager was super-responsive (within minutes in the early morning hours) - the issue was resolved quickly. Property was very quiet. Covered parking is key in the winter. Property is next to a rail-to-trails system and was great to stretch your legs after skiing - would be fun to explore in the summer. The property area has a lot of under the radar restaurants where you don't have to go to Main Street (nice to be able to walk places - Sammie's Bistro, Boneyard, Blind Dog, Grub Steak). Good access to Deer Valley (out of the Park City traffic pattern) - except maybe late afternoon coming down mountain but everyone deals with that. The 5 Yellow free shuttle takes you to Main St, Park City Mountain and Deer Valley and the stop is about 30-50 steps from the condo. The 50 Teal shuttle is the same stop and takes you to Deer Valley on an express basis. Grocery stores, Walgreens, liquor store, ski rental shops (Black Tie Rentals is right across the street), coffee shops, and Urgent Care (2 separate trips - they were good) are all less than a mile away. Great property...
Read moreGreat ski trip! This unit is as described, very clean, and quite a bit larger than pictures and description depict making it exceptionally comfortable for our four adult family members. The kitchen and three full bathrooms were well stocked including coffee, filters, toiletries and one blow dryer. Kudos to the owners for putting make-up mirrors in all three bathrooms. A suggestion is to install knobs/pulls on the kitchen cabinets because they were sometimes difficult to open, as evidenced by scratch marks from previous guests. We only used the hot tub once but it was a great way to relax after two full days of skiing. The ski lift is an easy 5 minute stroll from the unit or you can jump on the free trolley in the parking lot across the street. Don’t forget to take advantage of Deer Valley’s free overnight ski valet so you don’t have to carry your skis and poles to and from the unit every day. Management was quick to respond to our queries via their app so it is a good idea to install it as they advise when they send it to you a few days before your rental starts. Would not hesitate to rent...
