I rarely leave negative reviews, but this restaurant was underwhelming to say the least. A friend took me there, excited to introduce me to one of her favorite places.
When they rang up my order of lobster lettuce cups, I was surprised when the price didn’t match the menu. It was five dollars higher on an already too high $18 tag. $23 for three small lettuce cups was over my budget for lunch. I ordered a $10 bowl of clam chowder instead.
It took quite a while to get our food which we understand with understaffing these days. They brought me half of a small paper cup of chowder, no bread or crackers. When I questioned the very small volume, the waitress took it back and filled it up to what was supposed to be the bowl portion.
My friend ordered the lobster lettuce cups, despite the price increase because it is normally her favorite item. They arrived in the three smallest pieces of iceberg lettuce rather than the usual three large pieces of bib lettuce. The additional items that they put on including mango were sparse and everything looked very tiny. The lettuce wouldn’t even wrap around what was there despite it being very sparse. When she questioned the waitress, they mentioned that the price of lobster has gone up to $47 a pound. They could at least have made the lettuce and other items attractive and filling at that price. My friend said that the lobster was very good, but at that price she won’t be going back.
It was unfortunate that she was embarrassed to have taken me there and we both left hungry. I hope the price of lobster comes down and I understand that they have to pass prices along to customers, but there is no way that with that service and quantity that either of us...
Read moreI had read the great reviews and even national publicity this place received for their lobster rolls, and being from the East coast originally, I wanted to try it out. I've had lobster rolls in New England and the Jersey shore, and this one was about on par. A decent amount of lobster meat, mixed well, good flavor and texture. The roll is buttered and quite small. I had the medium size and for the price I'd have gotten a large elsewhere. The "tourist" size is literally one bite! Shipping lobster to Park City may contribute to the pricing, but I don't think that much. The atmosphere is stark with an attempt at nautical themes (the hanging rope lights with different knots are cool), but you're squeezed tightly inside. Service is pleasant, but the music is all wrong. It was a good lobster roll, and the only game in town for that. I'm glad I went, but once is enough. Tip: if you want a good taste of lobster at a lower price, order a salad with added lobster. It looks about the same amount as in the tourist size roll for a lot less. POSTSCRIPT: I received my emailed receipt and I was wrong about the price of adding lobster to the salad. It's not a deal, it's an extra $12! For about a forkful. The owners asked why I didn't like the music. Answer: it was loud rock, contemporary, and just seemed out of place. It seemed to be chosen to satisfy the tastes of the young staffers, but in a family spot specializing in lobster it felt incongruous and grating. Bottom line is still the same: good lobster roll, but not worth it more than once. Not a satisfying overall experience. Eat...
Read moreThis was our 4th attempt to eat at this establishment as its hard to find & difficult to park, especially in any vehicle larger than a compact. We had left without dining several times. What is pictured came to $60- so if you don't have a bunch of cash to throw at this place, you'll just go hungry. We got 1 XL Lob roll, 1 order Lob Sliders (2 mini sandwiches), a large Clam Chowder & two bottled drinks. The Clam Chowder is LEGIT. If I could drink it by the gallon, I would. Seating is abysmal & was cramped at 1:30 on a Fri afternoon, with just a few families taking up all the space. There are no fountain drinks here so drink options for kids & other non-alcoholic drinkers are SLIM. THE Lobster (whole reason for the visit) was very fresh- as in zero fishy smell or taste. They do very little to it, so as to not mask the flavor but it was super simple tasting. I would have liked a tiny bit of butter or lemon, maybe some salt to just amplify the flavors a little. The Sliders do have butter on the Lobster. Factoring in the difficult location & unsatisfactory seating, combined with the cost, we'll probably never come back. If we come across the Freshies Food Truck & happen to have a bunch of cash, we'll for sure enjoy another Lobster roll & some...
