Crescent Ballroom — Attraction in Phoenix

My friend and I were there for Jack & Jack on Monday 5/14/24, we had pregamed at our hotel room beforehand with the herb (not that it’s really anyone’s business but it is for context) we arrived at the venue around 12:00 and we’re there for about an hour and a half to two hours when my friend started to feel sick due to the heat, and possibly the herb, but we were able to get security’s attention, and he let us wait inside the venue with AC and water, she was starting to feel better so we decided to go back outside it was about 4:00 we were outside for a total of maybe 15 minutes and she got sick again. The security guard informed us that she would not be able to attend the concert that she paid and traveled for, so we needed up having to pay for an Uber back to our hotel, being the supportive friend that she is she was completely okay with me returning to the venue. I got there about 5:30 (mind you I spent $30 on an Uber to and back from our hotel so $60 total). I got back to the venue, got in with no problem. I spoke to the artists manager after receiving my VIP pass and asked her if my friend could come back since it’s not like she wanted to get heat exhaustion mixed with the edible, but anyways she said it was fine as long as she was hydrated and had food and everything which she did. So around 6:45-6:50 she lets me know she’s at the venue, and then the security guard gets on stage and starts looking for me (I was standing right in the front he didn’t have to look that hard) but he asked me “so who did you speak with?” And I told him their manager, and then he proceeds to go on this mysogynistic tangent about how he did his job by removing the liability of his establishment, and now she’s my responsibility because I magically got her back in the venue for the show, and then proceeded to tell me that he was surprised to see me there and called me irresponsible and a bad friend, (mind you this man told me I could come back for my M&G and my friend was okay with it), and then said that if anything happens it would be pretty embarrassing for both of us to be asked to leave the show for a second time, he also accused us of taking shots of fireball at 11:00 in the morning with other people outside the venue and said that was the reason my friend got sick. But another fan who was there for her birthday did a shot with one of the artists while he was on stage, and the same security guard came up and harassed the girl and said “you know how bad it looks for you to be pulling out shots of fireball and doing them with the artists when the girl who got sick off fireball is standing right behind you.” Long story short we had a great time, my friend and I were okay and we made it through the show with no issues and I really wanted to run it in his face. But at a show with a predominately female crowd this kind of behavior and mysogny from a bouncer should not be tolerated and I hope that the artists never book with them again. I was not the only fan who had a problem with the security guard he was also harassing the girls waiting outside of the venue saying that they asked to be miserable because they weren’t drinking water (he brought water out and then said they weren’t drinking water when it was empty???) Horrible experience, loved the performers but the venue was terrible. I won’t go back. They’re poorly organized, the way they try to separate the under 21 and over 21. My husband and I are both over 21 but we didn’t want to bother showing ID because we don’t drink so we always just say we aren’t 21 to make everything move faster. Well at this venue they weirdly gate off and split the floor to try and separate the age groups. And if you’re under 21 you aren’t allowed to enter through the normal entrance they tell you to walk around to the back of the building for the “under 21 entrance” where it’s sketchy and unsafe. We thought we were going somewhere wrong because we were like there’s no way this is right. But it was, they make you enter through the sketchy back, where the janitors closet and kitchen is. SO unprofessional and honestly unsafe. And then we got in and the seating area is in the over 21 section. We didn’t know this and were planning on sitting there but they denied us because we had the under 21 wrist band. My husband tried to talk to a worker 3 times AND their manager once to explain that I’m healing from a broken tailbone so I get bad back pain and I need to sit, we explain the situation with our age and ask if we can show ID to prove it. We aren’t even wanting to drink we just want to sit but they said they still won’t let us now. We go back to where we were standing and see 3 under 21 people sitting in the over 21 section and we bring that to their attention and ask again if we can sit there then because clearly they make exceptions but they got super rude and sarcastic with us, still denying us to just sit down even tho we are over 21 and can prove it. But they said they won’t change our wrist bands for us. Idk why that’s so complicated, could’ve been so easy to fix and solve this problem but they were disgustingly unprofessional. And we saw MANY people arguing with them over the way they organized the age groups, we bonded with a few people in the crowd over it lol. I ended up in a lot of pain and didn’t get to enjoy the concert. We’re getting our money back, so much unnecessary conflict tonight. They could’ve made half the bleachers over 21 and the other half that’s opposite from the bar under 21. Or could’ve specified that if you want to sit you need to have the over 21 worst band (tho apparently that didn’t matter either because there were under age people over there as well). So many people were upset which didn’t need to happen. And it sucked how they split the room right in half horizontally. So people over 21 that were big fans and wanted to be close to stage couldn’t because they had to be in the gates section at the back of the room by the bar. And then people under 21 who just wanted or NEEDED to sit and enjoy the performance were forced to stand at the stage. It was a mess, I don’t recommend attending this venue and if you do don’t bother ever talking to staff if you don’t have to because they are disrespectful and don’t care about you or your experience...

this fat, blonde white lady and some other fat white dude were being extremely weird to me and my partner (we’re both poc) because they assumed i was drinking underaged just for trying to throw away an empty seltzer can because I didn’t want my tia to litter outside her car window and they refused to let me inside and antagonized me and my girlfriend the entire time and talked to us like we were toddlers and inferior to them. it was genuinely so off-putting and uncomfortable like i’ve never had anyone at the crescent ballroom treat us so oddly. my partner and I are 20, and we were both 100% sober, and that fat white lady was talking to me as if i were drunk? even though i was speaking coherently and politely and she refused to let me even speak to anyone else. the fatter white dude then proceeded to be extremely passive aggressive to my girlfriend— inappropriately told her “yeah we KNOW you've been drinking too, we’re not stupid.” and gave her so much sass as a GROWN MAN. but then the fat lady allowed my partner to come in so long as she showed “no signs of intoxication” even though me and her were acting the same? literally perfectly normal and sober so it just felt like such a targeted attack. she wanted to emphasize so hard on how they’re “so so so serious about underage drinking” even though neither of us had been drinking that night. seemed like they were getting such a huge ego boost out of talking to us this way and it was so heartbreaking because the tickets we got for that show meant so much to us we had been looking forward to this night for months. huge white lady and huge white dude have a LOT more to worry about other than an empty seltzer can. like their health, for one. its mostly just super super sad that a place my gf and i love so much and worked so hard to get tickets for had people there that treated us so disrespectfully when neither of us even provoked them once whatsoever. you can look at whatever cameras they have in that area to see us being perfectly sober, and my partner has an audio recording on her phone of the way that fat dude was treating her so i mean we have proof. i hope no one else runs into a mix-up with these two very sad people like genuinely. be safe out...
