Forget “Enter the Sandman” or Timmy Trumpet. The coolest closer entrance in MLB history is “The Rubberband Man” by The Spinners for #Pittsburgh #Pirates closer Kent Tekulve. 😎 HBD 🎂 3/5/1947 Teke! #LetsGoBucs #baseball #MLB #Buccos #baseballtiktoks #70s

Florida Tech’s single-season record holder with 22 home runs and career leader with 40 long balls, Tim Wakefield, was selected in the 8th round of the 1988 MLB Draft to play first base for the Pittsburgh Pirates. A scout told Wakefield that he would never get above Double-A ball as a position player, so he began developing a knuckleball in an attempt to continue playing professional baseball. Wakefield made his pitching debut in 1990, and after excelling in the Minors, he joined the Pirates Big League club in 1992. Over 19 seasons, Wakefield went 200–180 with 2,156 strikeouts. The 2009 All-Star and 2x World Series winner ranks third in career wins in Boston Red Sox franchise history. At the time of his retirement, he was the longest-tenured member of the Red Sox and the oldest active player in Major League Baseball. 👉 I was fortunate enough to see Tim Wakefield pitch for the Pittsburgh Pirates during game 3 of the 1992 NLCS when he won a complete game 5-hitter. How many of you had a chance to see the knuckleballer work his magic in person? #pittsburghpirates #timeakefield #pittsburgh #bostonredsox #boston #baseballlifestyle #baseballlife #baseballhistory #fenwaypark #baseballislife #baseball #vintagesportscards #baseballcards #sportscards #vintagebaseball #vintagesports #homerun #nostalgia #baseballgame #knuckleball #mlb #1990s #halloffame #pitching #strikeout #pitcher #1990sbaseball #baseballseason #redsox
