Have been a long time regular here, but unfortunately no longer allowed back. After arriving around 3pm and Steph telling me about the party on the patio starting at 4, I was mindful and respected that. Never once have I come there and overreacted or drank too heavily or caused a scene. I am extremely polite and everyone knows that. Around 3:50, I asked Steph if I could have another beer and she said sure. Knowing the party was arriving soon, I was not going to take my good old time, but rather trying to finish my beer quickly. But little did I expect that Kaitlyn would come over with an attitude at exactly 4:00 saying she was going to dump the beers out (both mine and the other girl next to me), if we didn’t move right away. It was not in a nice way at all, and that was the first time. Nonetheless, I had about an inch of my beer left at 4:05pm, just needing my tab closed out. Obviously I am expecting them to give me my tab since I doubt I’m supposed to leave without paying. Steph was busy on the other side of the bar, and while I’m agreeing to leave, instead of getting my bill to get me cashed out, Kaitlyn instead chooses to come over and yell. I said well can I pay my bill? Not sure why she continued to have such a confused look on her face when here I am trying to leave, and instead of doing what’s needed, she preferred to argue and have a horrible attitude. I won’t deny that at this point I showed some reaction, but wow give me a break. I was clear on the other side of the bar from where the party entered, and leaving out the back door to where I was parked. Why can’t you just cash me out so I can go, rather than putting up a big argument which only delayed me leaving. Or maybe you shouldn’t say it’s okay to have another beer, since a guest is asking out of being polite and cognizant of the timeframe. Clearly I’m not expecting a yes for an answer only to get a big problem in return for it.

I did end up going back inside and asking one of the servers for a manager, as to attempt to explain my side of the story while it had just happened. But it was busy and one never came. I would like to come back here and would apologize for my reactions but if that’s not an option then I am quite disappointed. Not being allowed served here anymore over this is total crap honesty. I’m a Senior Manager at a large company and any rational person in management would see that this was not handled well at all. Clearly your cameras wouldn’t capture the real reasoning behind such an unfair situation.

I don’t want to give a low rating because the service and food here has always been fantastic which is why I made it my regular spot for a long time. While I absolutely never expect any type of special treatment for being a regular, I do expect to be treated with respect as anyone...

Our party of 5 ate here last night around 6pm. After waiting at our table for at least 10 minutes to be greeted by anyone a server came to our table and asked if we'd been taken care of. We had not. But while we were waiting to be greeted we watched at least 6 employees standing around a work area drinking pints and chatting. The server finally returned to take care of our table though it seemed like he didn't want to. Someone in our party wanted Southern Tier's IPA, but server said the keg was tapped. He suggested the double IPA and had no other suggestions when we said we didnt want a double IPA. The food we ordered was decent and brought out by someone other than our server. Our server came to the table and cleared 2 empty beer glasses and didn't ask if we wanted more beer. After waiting and waiting with him ignoring us walking by the table multiple times we went up to the bar and got more drinks to have while we finished our dinner. Eventually the server returned and was upset with us when he saw we had gotten our own drinks. He was shaking his head disgusted with us instead of being apologetic for not doing his job. He said, "Don't do that". Didn't clear plates, didn't give us a physical bill, just quickly showed us his handheld and said out loud in front of our party we were treating "$142.00", which is so tacky. Usually we buy merchandise at every brewery we go to, but I wouldn't rep this place if they paid me. As far as we could tell, the only person in the place who seemed interested in doing their job was...

Update to the below review: this was written during Covid which was an extremely confusing and frustrating time. But we've been there several times now since then and I'm so glad we did. Their beer is as good as ever and their service is wonderful. You can tell the staff loves what they do. Definitely check it out! Their beer is great, especially the Warlock (try it if you haven't!). It's also a nice outdoor seating area with plenty of space and it's great to see people be able to bring their dogs with them. I do have to leave some criticism though: the rule in Pennsylvania is that if one orders alcohol, it must be accompanied by a meal. I understand that and am fine with restaurants enforcing it. However, this place requires each individual person to order a separate meal, so split plates are not allowed. While I disagree with that interpretation, they can certainly set their own rules and I have no issue with it. That said, if that is how the rule is being interpreted, it needs to be clearly stated up front, on the website and social media pages and as customers are being seated. None of this was done. It created a very frustrating experience because we always share meals for numerous reasons (including not wanting to waste food) and literally no other restaurant we've been to in the last month has had an issue with us doing so. It completely took us by surprise. If we had known in advance, we would have planned...

This is such a great place literally 10 stars! It’s my second time coming and it’s always been an amazing experience. The place is massive and it’s located at the heart of the sports area in Pittsburgh between the two stadiums. Despite the place being huge the staff is so professional and attentive to you. They bring you drink and food menus as soon as you sit down and they regularly check in to make sure you’re doing ok. The beer selection is excellent and they’re owned by the parent company Victory which has the BEST beer in the world (try Sour Monkey). The food is literally phenomenal and out of this world. The first time I was here I had the deep friend chicken sandwich and it was honestly better than Chick-fil-A! That’s saying something lol. Today I had their burger and it was LITERALLY just like smash burger!!! The tastiest burger I’ve had in soooo long. They have a massive outdoor area that’s fenced in and has games you can play and picnic tables scattered around to hangout and relax on and just socialize and have a good time with your friends. I love this place. Will definitely be coming back often!

I would first say the service was excellent. Our server Courtney was awesome, so kind and accompanying. No problems with her or anyone who helped her with our drinks or food. My frustration is with the "Event Manager" Katelyn Leonard. I was told when I called she works best with email, I had questions that needed follow-up so I called until I got her...3 days later. She answered my questions and said she would send me an Event catalog so that maybe I could change my reservation to an event. She never did. I emailed to adjust my party number and add more people..crickets from Katelyn. When we got there our table was partially ready...it was like they didn't know we were coming. We had to wait for other guests to leave before our tables were ready. (Reservations made October 27 for November 24) Again, Courtney was very accommodating, and I appreciated her. The food and beer were good! Although there a few frustrating bumps in this process... It all worked out in the end.

Great overall experience at the Southern Tier Brewery. Excellent location just blocks from the Allegheny/Ohio Rivers and the lovely scenic waterway. Great environment with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area includes a beer-garden style space with lots of picnic-style benches. Lovely for when it gets warmer during the spring, summer and fall months. Wide assortment of beer as expected. Prices were fair, averaging about $6-8 per beer depending on the type. Had a few beers...all of which were good. Daily specials available including half-price appetizer Tuesdays! I had the pulled-pork nachos which were a bit underwhelming...kind of just threw some things, including cold pulled-pork, on top of nachos...not the best. I hope to return to try some other food options...as some others looked good. Staff were all awesome. Bartenders were very attentive, efficient and friendly. Hope to return when I am in the area again.
