Let me start by saying that it is very difficult for me to leave no tip, but I had no choice tonight. I usually tip 15% for bad service, much more for good service, but not when the waitress argues with my wife and refuses to get a manager when asked.
I’ll back up, we wanted to go to another restaurant before a concert at Stage AE, but it was a 50 minute wait, so we came here. It was pretty empty when we arrived. We sat at 5:25 pm but didn’t get approached for drink orders until 5:35. At that point, we also put in our food order, Quinoa Chop Salad with Salmon added and Blackened Shrimp Street Tacos with a side of Roasted Broccolini. We ordered 2 IPA drafts that came about 5 minutes later.
At 6 pm, we were told by our server that our food would be right out. We planned to order two more beers for our meal when she came back. However, she never came back. I tried to talk to her a few times, but she kept just walking past and not making eye contact. At about 6:05, I waived her down and told her we wanted 2 more beers. She said okay. At about 6:10, another server brought my wife’s Broccolini, just smothered in oil, but we still didn’t have any other food and still did not get our beers. My wife saw 2 beers sitting at the bar and figured that they were ours, so she went up and asked if they were, but the bartender said, “There’s a system and a wait, who’s your waitress.” My wife told her. At about 6:20, our food came. My Quinoa salad had NO Quinoa on it. Why call it that if you don’t put Quinoa on it? My wife’s blackened shrimp was not blackened at all. Again, don’t call it that if you aren’t blackening it.
The food was not the main issue here, I didn’t expect much, it’s Bar Louie. The problem was that the waitress didn’t come back to check on us until she brought one of the beers, not both, after we were already done eating. I told her I didn’t want the beer anymore, it was 6:30 at that point, 25 minutes later, and we needed to get our check and leave. She then began to argue with us about how many beers we ordered and was telling us that she had a bunch of other tables and that's why she never checked on us to see if our food was okay. While it was busier now than when we walked in, it still wasn’t what I would call crowded. But even if it was, go tell your manager to help you deal with it, don’t continue to argue with the customers. We asked for our check and a manager. She did bring the check, but a manager never came in the 10 more minutes that we remained there. I’m not sure if she ever told a manger, we never saw a manager all night, anywhere. On top of all that, our waitress was training another server. I’m thinking that this might not be the best person to be training new staff.
The table next to us overheard our argument with the waitress and said that we had better not leave a tip, they weren’t leaving a tip either because she was giving them attitude as well.
Also, the table was quite sticky and extremely wobbly. I wouldn’t normally mention this, I would just deal with it, but I thought with everything else, I’d pile that on too to give the...
Read moreWent to the North Shore location after a concert next door at Stage AE on Sunday night. Sat at the bar with 16 other guests. One female bartender working at that time took easily 10 minutes to greet us and get our drinks. Took another 10 mins to get menus. We decided on our food choice, but she never came back to take our order. A male bartender came behind the bar and the female bartender promptly left and went outside. We waited for some service, and waited, and waited. Other guests attempted to order food from the male bartender who clearly hates his job and obviously did not want to be there. We heard him repeatedly telling guests "One hour!" when they tried to order food. The two bartenders seemed to alternate "smoke breaks" or whatever it was they were doing other than serving guests. You would think they would want to give good service to hungry concert goers and make money. Yet, it was the opposite. The service was atrocious! Considering this is one of the only spots serving a late nite menu on a Sunday on the North Shore next to a concert venue, you would think this place would know they will get some guests after concerts. It was as if no one cared. No manager in site either. Pure incompetence! The male bartender heard me speaking to other guests. I was asking if they placed a food order. They had and were also told it would be an hour wait for food. I said aloud, "This place Sucks", at which point the male jaggoff bartender told me "Go somewhere else if you don't like it!". We did, as we would have done earlier if we had known how bad this place is! We never got a check for our drinks, because clearly we were invisible to the jaggoff at this point. Having worked in the service industry myself for 30 years, I will gladly spend my money and tip extremely well elsewhere, because this place blows! Additionally, I will no longer suggest this dump to any of the thousands of guests that I speak to weekly at my job, which just so happens to be next door, also on the North Shore! Totally unacceptable and irritating to be treated like a piece of trash. Management and the two sad excuses for bartenders should be terminated and replaced with competent individuals, because they were anything but! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AT BAR LOUIE!!! YOU...
Read more6 of us went here on the 4th of July 2025 before the fireworks. They got us a table very quick. But that's where the postive ends. They were not busy by an means at this time. We ordered our food. It literally took us over an hour waiting for the food. And when I say over an hour I mean like an hour and 20 minutes. They brought only 4 meals. They forgot 2 meals. Our server in this amount of time came around only twice. Empty drinks. After an hour and 20 minutes waiting for our food, we waited another 20 minutes before the server came to the table. We told her 2 meals were not served. They never made the two meals. So there we sat with our food getting cold until another 20 minutes go by and I finally went to the bar and asked for a manager. They said they would get one. 10 minutes go by. No manager. So I stopped the security guy making rounds. He said he would get the manager ASAP. Manager finally comes and says he's aware of the two meals not cooked yet, put his hand on my shoulder and basically said nothing more. Very flat expression. Very bland like the food. Kinda patronizing with the hand. After over two hours they finally brought the last two meals. So now we're eating cold food. No ketchup for fries, no napkins, no fresh drinks. 😅 At this point the server has an unpleasant demeanor about her. Almost like we are a pain in the rear. She said the manager took off $40 from the $130 bill. You would think the manager would come over before we leave and say something like how can he make this right? Maybe apologize, and offer something to come back and have a better experience. The wait time was worse than an ER wait to be seen, the service was atrocious, the food was very average, the server unpleasant, and management seemed totally disconnected. I still tipped the server but only $9. I should have tipped $0. And she unbelievably seemed pissed. Unreal.
We will never be back.
