Now I understand what people mean when they call dying malls sad. Clearly this was once a crown jewel. It's a bit difficult to get into the malls parking structure due to the street layout. Once you are in the parking structure though there is plenty of free parking with no time limit. The anchor stores are Macy's and Sears. It looks like the Sears is going to be closing soon as they had "Everything Must Go" signs all over the store. The mall consists of three levels centered around an ice rink. The ice rink is in great shape and there were lots of people and kids skating in the late afternoon on a Tuesday. As soon as I walked in I looked for signs or a "You Are Here" map to help direct me to the store I was looking for. There was nothing at all to direct me, until I found 1 map on the Third Level. The restrooms were also on this level buried behind the food court. The restrooms were not very clean, certainly not adequately sized for a Mall of this size, and smelled bad. The mall does offer free Wi-Fi, which many people were sitting around using. It looked like they had been there awhile. There is a Wells Fargo ATM at the top of the escalator by the Food Court on the second level. They do have areas set aside with comfy couches and chairs. Despite the beautiful curved glass roof running down the center of the mall the whole place felt dark. There is still a good variety of stores to shop in, but many empty store fronts. There are adequate food choices, so you should find something to satisfy your appetite while shopping. I did see a cleaning person walking around and another person emptying garbage, but the whole mall still felt dirty. When I compare Lloyd Center to the Centennial Properties Owned Vancouver Mall I understand the difference between a well run, thriving mall and a sad, dying one. I genuinely hope Arrow Properties will get serious and bring the mall back to it's earlier glory. On my next trip to Portland I will visit the mall again and re-evaluate my initial impressions and add more photos!

In a previous review of Lloyd Center, I remarked that most of the stores had been closed during a remodel. Now that the remodel is almost finished...most of the stores are still closed. The movie theater that used to be present is gone, as is the video arcade next to it (though hardly anybody went in there anyway), and what was once a bridal wear shop was curiously shuttered and closed on the Saturday I visited in October 2017. About half the mall is now seemingly office space. At least you can get around more easily now that the construction barriers are all gone, but the food court is about half as popular as it once was (it's largely Asian and Cajun-style cuisine, a Subway, and an Italian-style place - Billy Heartbeats is no more, it seems!). I mean, it's an improvement over how it was a little bit before, but compared to how it was a few years ago, it's still not quite as good as it could be.

What once was a bustling safe happy place for locals to shop, eat and catch a flick has now become no more than a sad remnant of yesteryear and how things were once done. Now there are no more department stores in the mall after Nordstrom, Macy's, JC Penney and finally Sears have all abandoned this venue. The ripple effect in turned caused so many of the other big names to also call it quits here at Lloyd Center and either consolidating locations to somewhere else or abandoning the retail model altogether and focusing on their online platforms. For example stores that were once the first thing that comes to mind when one says the word mall are nowhere to be seen such as the Gap and Old Navy or foot locker have long called it quits here at Lloyd.

I'm giving this review out of some nostalgia. This was the mall I would walk in my teen years. I used to ride max to get here, no longer does that feel like a safe option.

If you treat this as a simple family outing that is cheap and pleases a 4yr old, it is perfect! Today was bitterly cold, yet I was able to walk around a well lit, mostly empty, nicely decorated mall with occasional bursts of color and activity. As an introvert, it's even better than I remember it when it was crowded and loud in holidays past.

We went for the carmel corn, and to be honest there really isn't much else. Not all of the stores open at 10. There are a few clothing stores, a Lego store, comic book shop, a few jewelry places, and the magic shop that does afternoon shows. There is a Barnes and Nobles, Ross, and a hair salon too. A few places you really have to hunt for since there are spaces where shops are closed and locked up or simply up and gone.

There are a few food options, but only two places looked like they served a real meal. Lots more Ice cream, cinnabon, tea, and pretzel like options.

As of December 22nd 2022, it is decorated nicely with several trees and a section for Santa (although he wasn't there at 11am). The ice skating rink seemed the main event and it didn't seem too crowded.

All in all, we walked and looked, only bought some popcorn. It was fun and inexpensive (well, the popcorn is a bit pricy). And our car was still there intact when we left! Although as a safety note, it doesn't feel safe to park in the covered area anymore. There is plenty of parking out front in the open anyway.

I didn't see any security while I was there, inside or out. But inside the mall seemed full of...

This mall used to be the talk of the town back in the early 1990s. I just recently saw a commercial on YouTube and it was still a good looking mall.

The people packed up in line to do their Christmas shopping. The food court was huge and we once ate some Asian food here at lotus Express and it was good.

However once the 90s ended. This place turned into a total nightmare. The homeless and drug dealers started invading this place and robbing it and that's why it loses so much money.

I've also been to the CTCM but that mall is thriving very well with some small shops like Torrid. BAN bookstore. And even Sees Candies.

But this mall looks like the comic stores and some stores like Ross and the Barnes and Noble here look like they will move out soon because of the criminal activity running rampant in the area.

Like I said this mall used to thrive in the 90s a lot. But with all the criminal population it sure is doing unwell at the moment.

Come here to see the LLoyd Center Mall if you want to see a total trainwreck but come last time if you want to see people not deserting the shops anymore.

There was an ice rink here at one point but they also have removed it because of the criminal activity that takes place here. There are parents and kids who come to have fun but not so much anymore because of this.

I'm not coming back to this place nor are we ever planning on going back and due to all the thefts and carjackings in the parking lot too.

It's not recommended to come here. They will probably tear down this mall and replace it with the apartment buildings just wait and see...
