Yu-Gi-Oh Collectors Beware!!! I was in on a Thursday and saw a card on their trade shelf that I wanted, but I did not have my trade binder on me at the time. I told them I would be back on the weekend to trade for it since I live in Salem. The following Sunday, I made a special trip there and picked out a pile of things I wanted to trade for only to be told they weren't doing trades due to a tournament. I then offered a simple 1:1 trade instead of a pile for a pile. I offered one of my cards that has a market price of $25 for their one $20 card that I was seeking. I was told "we don't do 1:1 trades because we're a business" as if I was offering something ridiculous like a $0.50 common for their $20 card. I had already driven 45 miles seeking that card so I reluctantly paid and left. The time it took to ring up my transaction was more than the time it would have taken to confirm the market price of the card I wanted to trade in. I won't be going back, but I'd like to offer some advice.
As a business, it is in your best interest to do 1:1 trades when you are getting a higher value card. You are not losing money when trading 1:1 for said higher value card. Also, it takes less time to confirm the market price of 1 card than it does to ring a cash or card transaction. You had a couple choices here. First, take less time + make more money + make your customer happy. Alternatively, take more time + make less money + make your customer incredibly unhappy. You chose the latter, and that is not a sustainable choice for a business.
If some of the services your business offers are going to be unavailable at particular times due to special events, you need to notify your customers. You can't expect all of your customers to just know that X event on Y day means Z service will be unavailable. All of this could have been avoided if there was a sign on the cash register on Thursday that said "No Trade-In Sunday". You don't even have to say why. Just tell people what is happening.
For my fellow collectors who have long since stopped playing competitively, don't go here if you want to feel respected. Definitely do not make a special trip...
Read moreI would love to give this place 5 stars.. but honestly I can’t. The employees are nice enough, the owner is decent as well.with that said I have been severely put off with the greed my last few trips. I spend at least 1000$ here a week on sealed product had been for months now.. and anytime I would ask for a minimal discount(5-10%) I get told “ oh I don’t have that authority” and then employee disappears.. if I was ownership I would pay attention to the bigger buyers that come through your door and take care of them because after my last trip today. I won’t be back. Had enough with the penny pinching and avoidant customer service. I will say they’re a great shop with a good amount of product. But that only will get your so far IMO, the way it’s being ran won’t be sustainable. If the other reviews don’t steer people clear of this place I hope mine will. Go support another local card shop this place is greed and lacking care for...
Read morePrices are way above retail and suggested retail, no difference then buying from a flipper off eBay, also they justified the prices because that’s what the “market value” was. That’s what the flippers are charging not the “market value” also the excuse of distribution price going up is a lie my local small town hobby shop during this whole time never other then maybe $5dollars for a ETB which is understandable, but then this place has premium collection boxes for $350 when retail at target when I picked one up it was $120 so how do they justify that up charge of $230. You are robbing from people in the hobby and it’s not right and to say it’s because of market value is so shady and sketchy (that’s a lie it’s on your Instagram page you had a post and they were $325 for the box and no I have the right place and yes I’m talking about when you had those...
