Viking Skate Country — Attraction in Redding

I’m not normally one to write reviews good or bad but unfortunately we had the worst time. My daughter has been looking forward to skating for her birthday pretty much all year (we live in the mountains so getting down to skate all the time is hard) We had a van full of her friends and arrived 15 mins early to ensure quick and easy load into the roller rink. We quickly were told we couldn’t bring in her cupcakes and presents, okay fine we can adapt. I get back from the car to my husband informing me that my daughter and her friends personal skates were not allowed (mind you we have skated here with THOSE skates before). Okay, should have asked for my money back and left in that moment. We get in, get the kids rental skates and proceed to make the best of it. My daughter who is usually lapping people on the rink staying on her feet can’t even get around the rink without falling. So now we have to spend money for the awful skate helper things that truly don’t work especially with the shitty skate rentals on top of it.. She is miserable and doesn’t want to skate,(which is what she wanted to do only) so we proceed to play some arcade games to make the best of it. BAD IDEA. You really should take all those games out if they are inoperable or going to take your money with nothing in return. Instead of you have signs randomly that says play at your own risk, so you KNOW your machines don’t work and don’t care if it takes people’s money. She is crying and saying it’s the worst birthday ever. So we left and took our money elsewhere. We most likely won’t be back, it’s unfortunate that it’s the closest option to skate in this area but would rather drive hours to skate...

Going to the adult nights has been an overall fun activity for my friends to do weekly. The adult nights in the evenings are a wonderful healthy night life activity for Redding folks to have available. One of the staff was very friendly the first time I came here but some of the people that work there seem to purposely ignore customers and once we can get ahold of someone to ask a question, they seem as though we are inconveniencing them. Also can we request songs or can we not? We had one girl say “yes of course you can make song requests!” and told us to go ask the DJ. But when we walked up to the DJ, there was a sign that said no song requests and the DJ actively ignored us. We really aren’t that difficult- I just wish that the staff were more attentive and friendly in the few moments that any guests may need anything. Having to track someone down to get skates feels like an understaffed issue maybe? Overall, the community that shows up to adult nights is wonderful, supportive of one another, fun, and kind. My friends and I wish this skate rink played better music though. Not much variety and we’ve heard a lot of the same songs each Thursday. What’s up with the constant Pitbull songs? We swear we hear like 10+ Pitbull songs every time we visit. It is not a vibe. 😅 Please help improve the...

I LOVE Viking Skate. I skate 2-3 times a week and I really enjoy myself here. The entry prices are great! The same goes for the food, good price and good service. The staff is also great! they're helpful and understanding if you have any problems with your skates or skaters on the floor. The music is good but they allow you to bring your own headphones if you don't like what they play there. The Dj is usually pretty involved with the crowd and will sometimes take song requests. The games are fun and most of them are for everyone meaning you can play even if you aren't the best skater and if you win you can get a small free soda. You can come even if you don't like to skate! They have an arcade that is pretty small but they have air hockey, basketball, racing games, claw machines, a shooting game, foosball and a few other games that aren't coming to mind. I'm not entirely sure if they have air conditioning or not because it's usually pretty warm in there so i'd say just come in lighter clothes and you'll be fine. Anyways LOVE Viking Skate and would totally recommend coming here...
