We LOVE Dixie rock! Everytime we vacation in St George we bring our climbing gear and rapell. The access to the top is relatively easy, the cliffs are plenty vertical with fun ledges at the base to land on and cast off from. The anchors are well placed and solid. I miss the old pistons, though. Plenty of tourists coming and going, and only rarely do we compete for rap spots. My kids are 25 to 10 and they have all found something they like. The crags and crevasses at the top of the rock and around the base fascinate my 10 year old, while my 16 year old likes climbing. All of us enjoy repelling. Views are an odd mix with the main street below, the large white DIXIE on the rock face and St George spread below contrasting starkly with the primitive and slowly eroding red sandstone of southern Utah below us. It is a little hard to reach if you start walking from the beginning of Pioneer Park; it will take you approximately 2 or 3 hours, but if you start from the parking lot, it will take you less than 20 minutes.
