We first went to the SGMT in 2003 and have had a lot of variance in the quality of performance and venue over the years. We love live theatre and accept local productions for what the are. We have been to DSU, Brigham's playhouse, the Shakespeare Theatre and of course Tuacahn, both in side and out.
We bought season tickets to SGMT this year. We were very pleasantly surprised with the Scarlet Pimpernel production and quality of the performance. A few weaker performers but all in all WOW, so much improved, not Tuacahn or Shakespeare quality but far better than anything else we have seen in the local area. The Spitfire Grill was nearly as good with again good performances.
We HIGHLY recommend the SGMT so far this year.
It is nice to see some theatre (SGMT) that is not geared so much for children as Tuacahn had become. Theatre for children is great, we took our kids to many live performances when they were young, but this year after many years of being premium season ticket holders we couldn't do Tuacahn again this...
Read moreWhat a fantastic production of Matilda! The talent on display was remarkable. The actors were brilliant, the vocal performances were superb, the costumes were wonderfully creative, and the script was both witty and heartwarming. There were many laugh-out-loud moments, and the musical numbers were incredibly well done. Special recognition goes to the young star who played Matilda – her performance was truly captivating. The only area for potential improvement, in my opinion, is the show's duration. At well over 2.5 hours, it felt a bit long, and I noticed some restlessness among the younger audience members (and even some adults) as we approached the two-hour mark. Editing it down to around 1 hour and 45 minutes might make it even more enjoyable for a wider audience. However, this is a minor point in an otherwise exceptional and highly recommended...
Read moreSt. George Musical Theater is well worth the money and time. Speaking of the productions I have attended, and especially "Annie Get Your Gun" the Casts are chosen from community members which includes extremely talented leads. The small theater gives a challenge to the directors to paint scenery through visual imaginary and the challenge is met. Props and scenery are well done. Choreography is entertaining and synchronized. Costumes fit the time period and the bright colors add to the pleasant visual. It is fun to ñotice the Ensemble playing each of their parts as different characters and grow with experience. An advantage of a small stage is one is able to witness the audience enjoy the experience. Thank you, St George Musical Theater, for what you do. I look forward to my next evening spend in your company. Jean,...
