Here is my assessment after using this gym for 1 year. Cost: Very affordable. Equipment: Sufficient for most. Lacking for serious lifters (e.g. most equipment is machine assisted). Cleanliness: Satisfactory. I used to find more dust than appropriate, but they seem to be doing a better job with cleaning because of COVID. Location & Accessibility: Prime downtown location sounds nice, but it also means that it's not very accessible for many since parking options become limited in downtown. If you buy their black membership, you get free parking. Patrons: I'd say patrons here are laid back and just mind their own business. I haven't noticed too many issues. There are some that lack gym etiquette, so this gym should probably post signs to guide them better. Some monopolize multiple equipment concurrently, which is not appropriate, especially during pandemic when we need to be mindful about sharing equipment. Atmosphere: I've heard split opinions. I personally like how the entire gym has glass windows all around, but I've also known people that felt uncomfortable because they felt exposed. Staff/Management: This is their weakest point. This gym has the highest turnover rate I've ever seen. Staff/managers keep changing very frequently. I literally don't see a single staff that I saw when I signed up a year ago. They were actually all gone in a matter of several months, and new staff that replaced them also got replaced just after months. I see 2 issues with this. Patrons don't get the comfort of having familiar staff face, and staff is always new, so they are not very good at their job. By the time they get it right, they are replaced with new staff. The biggest downside to this is that some staff or even managers don't know the right way to do their job. For example, there was a female staff that kept activating an alarm that they use to warn patrons who broke their gym etiquette rules (which is rather ironic for a gym that says they are against shaming people). No offense to her, but she looked like she had never exercised her whole life and didn't know anything about working out or gym equipment. She kept triggering the alarm and nagging patrons who weren't doing anything wrong. I spoke to one of them, and he said she accused him of slamming weights. Well, I was there. He wasn't slamming at all. I also found out that she was a manager, but I had never seen her before, so I'm sure she's new. Honestly, her misuse of the alarm was far more annoying than whatever reasonable noise patrons were making with equipment. It puzzles me why a gym would hire someone who doesn't know anything about exercise and shame people like this. This is a gym. People shouldn't be told to lift as if someone is sleeping right next to them. If they had seasoned staff/managers that stay at this location, we wouldn't have issues like this. If it wasn't for this component, I would rate...

Today, however, we turned in our validation (well under the two hour limit) and a very nice employee tries to validate it and she thinks she does. She was very nice but she made a mistake ( like humans do, no big deal) I turn in my validation and it turns out it wasn't validated. The parking area was going to charge me 6$. There were about 5 cars behind me and I was honked at so I paid and went back into planet fitness explaining what happened.
The nice worker apologized profusely and was very professional and she went and saw what she could do so she got her Manager.
The Manager said "we don't own that parking lot we can't refund you" no apology, not taking accountability whatsoever. "I asked "Isn't there anything you can do on your end?" She said "no"
My girlfriend came in pretty mad (as most people would be) and asked can we send an email to someone about the situation. She said "you can email but you're probably not going to get much luck"
6$ isn't the end of the world, and honestly mistakes happen. I understand. I also understand they can't refund the money for 6$ because they don't own the parking lot. However, would it be too much to ask for an apology or "let me talk to owner and we can try to make this right can I have your email?" You could provide a drink, or just something to say sorry for a mistake on YOUR end. The entry level worker was so kind and great. She took responsibility and I have no complaints whatsoever to her. The manager, however, that was the rudest coldest manager I have ever came across initially. No accountability to the shift that she is managing. Just an aloof attitude and was not humble on this mistake the nice young lady made.
To the managers credit, when I told her why I wasn't impressed with her behavior she listened and humbled herself.
Like I said 6$ isn't the end of the world but I should not have paid it as I am a black card member. It's the principle of the matter. Most days I would give this 3 or 4 stars, not today. If management or anyone can come to a rational compromise for this incident I will delete this review and rate it much higher as I don't usually have problems with this location. No ill will to the workers reading this but I hope this is...

I am very upset. I went to the Planet Fitness and signed up for a $10 membership. As of then I moved to another state due to loosing my job, my apartment and a family member passing away.
Needless to say I understand my part of the responsibility I should have called to cancel but I was going through alot and that was the last thing on my mind. They kept charging my card for months even though I wasn't going into the facilities. At one point I had no money on my card so it became an over due bill. Then when I did have money they kept charging.
Today I had a job interview that I woke up this morning to sad news of them taking $25 out of my account for direct debit. I was very sad and called to see if I could get a refund since I wasn't going in. They said they don't have any way of working with me, all I can do is cancel the membership which would take $51 I don't have, and that's it, no refunds.
Why is this treated so seriously? A gym is not keeping a roof over my head or food in my stomach, it should be if someone doesnt pay this month then they can't come in. Like the phone service Cricket or similar. Not find a way to charge their account, if they can't pay keep charging them until they pay $51 to close.
So to sum it up, they will charge my account every month if I can't pay the $51 close out. If there is no money then they will create a bill that fee keeps adding up and up. Instead of putting my account on hold or something else because I have zero money until I can pay to close out. NOT keep charging/billing for services I don't use.
I am very sad. This is not a sob story just read the fine print before you sign. And heaven forbid life takes a sour turn, they have no interest in working with you. Only collecting money.
I am not making a emty handed comment, I will be finding a way to discuss these rules, possibly revise them, your customer should have a little more respect when life happens outside of...
