The Carver Cultural Community Center and the Little Carver Cultural Community Center are true treasures in San Antonio, celebrating history, culture, and community spirit. Built in 1929, the Carver Center originally served as a gathering place during segregation, providing a safe space for African American San Antonians to come together. Today, its beautifully preserved Art Deco architecture stands as a testament to the era’s craftsmanship and the resilience of the community. The Little Carver offers an intimate setting for performances, workshops, and art exhibits, making every visit special with its welcoming atmosphere and dedicated staff who are eager to share the history and significance of these incredible places.
It’s important to remember that both centers are not just venues but living pieces of history, so please be respectful of the property. These spaces have witnessed decades of creativity, growth, and resilience. Whether you’re enjoying a concert, exploring an exhibit, or just soaking in the atmosphere, take a moment to appreciate the stories these walls could tell. The staff are warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about preserving the Carver’s legacy, ensuring that every visitor leaves with a deeper understanding of this vital piece of San Antonio’s...
Read moreDo not waste your money or your time. My daughter has been attending dance classes for the past couple of months and seemed like everything was going great. She was sick last Saturday and did not make it to class. It was the last class prior to the recital and I was informed that some changes were made. When she was done speaking to them, still proceeded to avoid me and started the recital. We decided to just leave. We’ve been going to class every weekend with the exception of one and even bought the outfit that was required.
