J & I Cafe — Restaurant in San Antonio

Service is fast but the food is not good ordered two different tacos neither were seasoned well. The potatoes in the picadillo were hard. This place is right down the road from my job so I was pretty excited about it. I should have known there would be a problem when you’re greeted with a large sign as you enter that says “no refunds on food”. A friend asked me where I got them when I told him where and what I thought me that he had gotten two tacos there they were both pretty bad he walked over and asked to have them changed was told no and that he was never allowed in the restaurant again! Unless you want to spend your hard earned money on food that the establishment clearly knows isn’t good I suggest...

Nice neighborhood gem. Not much in the way of exterior and interior aesthetics. However, my lunch plate made up for it. I ordered the Mexican Plate, which consisted of 2 cheese enchiladas, crispy taco, rice, beans and 2 flour tortillas. The tortillas were hot, fluffy and aromatic, reminded me of my abuelita's. Food was served hot and fresh. The enchildas were very flavorful and plenty of cheesy gooeyness. Great tasting crispy taco. I rarely eat the rice from most places, but the comino in the recipe brought out the richness of the side dish. It was my 1st time to eat there (never had take-out either). We tried to come to j and I despite the reviews . Well they proved the reviews right . The owner or whoever he is is very very rude . He rushes you when ordering and my mom asked for trips extra crispy and they were beyond soft she said excuse me Sit they are not crispy he kept telling my mom no they are I said are u serious he said yeah I am . He said I can take them back but they are crispy I told my mom just eat it mom and never again will we come back he just turned and walked away . Never came for one refill of tea . Sucks cause it seemed like somewhere I wanted to make a fav but walking in here getting treated the way we did never will I return save ur money go somewhere with great...
